The Ultimate Guide To Picking Your Wedding Flowers in 2022
While they add unmatched atmosphere and style, picking the wrong flowers can leave your big day décor looking more wilted than wonderful. There’s so many options out there. Precise, Pinterest-worthy petals, big, blousy, blow-your-socks off blooms, faux or fresh…
How do you know which flowers are right for your wedding? Which flowers work best together? What can you get for your budget? Here, in this exclusive Belle Bridal Guest List Guide to choosing your wedding flowers, we’ve got all the answers.
KNOW YOUR THEME
First things first, flowers must fit your theme. Many brides fall into the Instagram hole of floral heaven and book a florist without considering how their work will tie in with their theme.
BELLE TOP TIP:
Remember, your wedding photos will be with you for a lifetime; your flower choice can make all the difference to the look of your day.
Want to go boho? Dried fronds of pampas and palms provide a laidback luxe vibe.
Elegance is key? Opt for classic bouquets of roses and carnations for a traditional and timeless look.
Modern marvel? We can’t help but love eucalyptus. Sprigs here and there will create subtle, trend-setting style that’s in-keeping throughout the seasons.
FLOWER FOCUS: You don’t have to turn into Alan Titchmarsh, but it can be helpful to know your petunias from your peonies when picking your wedding flowers.
COLOUR SCHEME
We’re curing your January blues by showing you how to make the new colour of 2022 the focal point of your wedding blooms, and not just a slow Monday at the start of the year.
A dynamic periwinkle blue hue, with a vivifying violet red undertone, ‘VERY PERI’ has been announced as Pantone’s Colour of the Year for 2022.
As we are finally starting to see the light at a very, very, very long tunnel (don’t worry we’re touching wood) it seems only right that the colour of 2022 looks like a stunning sunset sky we’re coming out the other side to.
Evoking notions of a ‘spritely, joyous attitude and dynamic presence that encourages courageous creativity and imaginative expressions,’ Very Peri embodies everything that we are manifesting for 2022- even more reason for you to use this as your floral colour scheme.

KNOW YOUR BUDGET
On average, the cost of wedding flowers from a professional florist will be £1,200-£1,500 – which understandably might make some brides immediately want to go DIY. But be aware – flowers are fiddly business.
If you want to save yourself the long nights cutting stems, trimming ribbons, matching shades and preventing them from dying a slow death in your over-heated, over-crowded, laundry-laden utility room – call on the experts.
They’ll source, arrange and deliver your flowers for you; they’ll know what last-minute changes to make; they’ll know which flowers to pair together; they’ll store them in a proper facility; the benefits are endless. The cost of florists differs on their specialism. Those who offer dried or faux flowers will be cheaper, whereas fresh flower florists will charge more for the upkeep and price to source.
Know your budget, and go from there. As always, research pays, and luckily we’ve done the hard work for you – found the best florists – so all you need to do is head to the glossary, get some quotes and see which fit your budget.
FIND YOUR SUPPLIER
But before you hurriedly pick your petal provider based on just affordability, you should ALWAYS check if their style is aligned with yours.
Yes a particular supplier might have been the cheaper option, but could there be anything worse than walking into your venue to see bunches of boring, underwhelming blooms in that particular shade of orange you’ve always hated? We think not.
Search through our Supplier Guest List to distinguish which of our Guest List florists tick your boxes.
Romi Bloom, Nomad Floral Styling and Wild and Wonderful are all exhibiting at Dalton Old Pump House Sunday 6th February.
