Story of the Shoot...

Here at Belle Bridal HQ, we’re big fans of historical drama, wild romance and brides that know how to work a statement cover-up. So, when we first peeped this lush woodland shoot, you can bet we came down with a serious case of the Maid Marian swoons.

From softly-lit bridal beauty shots captured against expansive lancet windows to two sets of vows taken under the leafy canopy of the castle’s verdant glade, every moment is full of demure – dare we say, bodice-heaving – passion.

Towering Love

Sure, the lifting of Covid-19 venue restrictions is great, but have you ever thought about marrying alone in a medieval forest with a 14th century fortress as your backdrop AND wedding night destination? Dating back to 1350, Langley Castle and its vast green Northumberland estate exude period charm, fairytale wonder and natural beauty.

And while it’s available as an exclusive-use venue for nuptials with guest lists of up to 50 (as well as varied packages for up 40 loved ones) it’s most notable for its elopement potential, with its Weddings for Two options including indoor or outdoor ceremonies, dining à deux, your choice of guest room and full use of the grounds to create a whimsical album of memories. Whether you opt for a Westeros-worthy handfasting (like couple Sophie and Alex) or more trad vows à la Rara and Keith, it’s impossible to deny the bewitching quality of this foliage-rich spot.

Sheer Perfection

Speaking of Game of Thrones, if Daenerys ever did decide to marry Jon Snow, she’d have Bexbrides’ Rebecca on speed dial. Model Sophie was resplendent in the bridalwear designer’s Rowan gown: a fluid satin slip overlaid with a patterned tulle kimono, and belted with a black ribbon and gold leaf brooch. In short – laidback Khaleesi vibes. This boho ensemble is complemented by soft tendrils crowned with a jewelled headdress and a slick of dusky pink lipstick.

Meanwhile, Rara nailed Dragon Mother glam with a structured and embroidered tulle ballgown, cloaked with an exquisite ivory lace hooded cape. To set off this breath-taking look, her make-up was kept subtle, while her tousled bob was adorned with a blush and white floral headband. Luxe, eclectic and totally fantastical, this is bridalwear on another level.

Eternal Flame

From courtyard peacocks to delicate leaf place cards, nature is at the heart of the showcase aesthetic. Bouquets of jewel-toned wild flowers, velvety peonies and plentiful fern, olive, sage and ruscus balance the elegance of a table crowded with gold candlesticks and lit white candles of varied sizes and shapes. Meanwhile, the abundant greenery of the nuptial scene was reflected by watercolour stationery trimmed with peridot ribbons and wax seals.

Head to Langley Castle’s website to see all they have to offer. This gorgeous venue, along with bridalwear designer Bexbrides and hair and make-up artist Claire Alexandra are the ultimate wedding day dream team.
