Run (and driven) by bride’s mother Paula Gibson, Weardale Vintage Buses is a family firm with over 96 years experience in providing executive coach and vintage bus hire for weddings across the North East. But she swapped her chauffeur hat for one of a more sophisticated disposition, dazzling in a head-to-toe champagne look on her daughter’s special wedding to childhood sweetheart (since the age of 15), CJ.

Seating up to 129 collectively, the Old Boy and Old Girl – a Leyland double decker and a 1960 London Routemaster boasting restored interiors with leather and tartan seating and a ribbon-adorned exterior – were the rightful steeds to steer this group of best dressed guests to the grandeur of Wynyard Hall.

THE DRIVING FORCE

Beth, a picture of classic bridal perfection in her mikado ballgown from Harrogate Wedding Lounge and draping floor-length veil, made her way on a horse and carriage before being chaperoned in by dad and mum Paula, who did however take to her chauffeuring role during the planning. Beth exclaimed the process was “a lot less stressful thanks to my mum”, and even awarded her the gold medal in the wedding olympics for making her day amazing.

A sensational ceremony in the Venetian onsite chapel preluded an Alice in Wonderland-cross-Downton Abbey reception, before a full swing party ensued – think old school jams and trumpets from award-winning six piece band Hip Operation and fantastical fireworks across the iconic Wynyard lake.
