A Pretty Pink Weekend Wedding at Brinkburn
REAL WEDDING
READ THE ROMANCE
Katy and Steffan hired Brinkburn for the whole weekend, so travelled up on the Friday before their wedding. Katy, her parents and chief bridesmaid stayed in the buttery-toned, rustic luxury of The Stables, while the rest of the family stayed in the cottages at the top of the estate.
While usually a stressful scenario for a bride, Katy enjoyed a blissful start to her wedding day sitting in bed listening to the babbling river and the seeing the sunrise outside. Her bridesmaids then arrived for makeup, a pre-ordered breakfast was delivered from local cafe The Running Fox and ice cold champagne was served to soothe the nerves.

THE I DO
Once ready, they headed the Priory – an onsite historical chapel just feet away from Brinkburn’s main house. This is, arguably, one of the most imposing, impressive ceremony spaces in the North of England, with huge lofted ceilings, stained glass windows and a beautifully tranquil atmosphere.
THE TERRACE PARTY
In amazing 21 degree heat, Brinkburn came into its own. The sandstone facade of the main house provided a Pinterest-worthy backdrop for Pimms, Elderflower gin fizz and live music on the terrace overlooking the river. Katy and Steffan stole away for a picture-perfect photo shoot in the glorious grounds, before being ushered into the Tipi for a glorious three-course feast provided by 19.01 Catering.
THE NIGHTTIME
As the sky turned a lighter shade of pink-blush ombré this sunset shindig got started – with a first dance out on the terrace before Ibiza-style saxophone was the perfect soundtrack to Brinkburn’s Mediterranean aesthetic. Nighttime came, and the party continued, with guests grooving around the tipi’s firepits while tucking into street food and sipping on customised cocktails and fine wines. The White Room is another party space available to couples. This blank canvas features overhead disco balls and a cool and quirky spill-out space for the late night revellers.

THE DAY AFTER
Hangovers: non existent. The couple awoke in the plush indulgence of Brinkburn’s bridal suite with deep roll-top bath and beautiful countryside views.
They gathered guests again on their second day for a barbecue, ice cream cart, music, beer pong and lots of champagne, rounding off this wedding weekender in style.
FROM THE BRINK...
Rescued, reloved and renovated into one of the north’s most prized wedding venues, Brinkburn’s owners Emma and Mark took on the estate in 2009 as a tired patch of land and since, they have worked tirelessly to create a captivating wedding canvas for modern, fashion-forward couples.
