BALTIC: A Chic City Celebration For Jenny And Chris
Sweet sixteen and totally unaware that their lives were about to change forever, Jenny and Chris met while working at the same shop during their college years. Jenny said: “We met when we were 16, as we both had the same part-time job in the same shop while we were at sixth form college. Chris was working with me on my very first shift. We became friends and got together a couple of years later, just after my 18th birthday.”
Fast-forward to February 10th 2018, and this couple held a chic city celebration is the stunning setting of BALTIC. “We wanted a city wedding with amazing views and a venue that could be used for the full day. We also wanted a laid-back, modern wedding that could be enjoyed by both ourselves and all of our family and friends.”

Jenny and Chris adore the quayside in Newcastle and knew they wanted to host their wedding in a venue surrounding this area. “We love Newcastle quayside and decided to look at several venues around that area, however, we both knew that BALTIC was for us after being shown around the venue. We were able to use three different spaces within the building therefore breaking the day up. We used a large gallery-style space for our ceremony, which was essentially a blank canvas and could be decorated/lit exactly how we wanted. We then headed to the top floor to have the drinks reception, speeches and wedding breakfast in SIX – the rooftop restaurant with amazing food. For the evening reception we moved downstairs to their River Terrace for the party where the band could play and we had amazing views over the millennium bridge.”

Jenny and Chris chose Carn Patrick to capture their special day. “We tried to use local businesses for the majority of our wedding supplies, including the cake, hairdresser and florist. Carn Patrick was no exception. He is from Hartlepool and when we met him for the first time we discovered he lived right round the corner from us, he is the same age as us and we had mutual friends so it was a no-brainer. Obviously, his amazing photos helped too! Everyone was absolutely amazed with the results of our photos and since our wedding, two of our other friends have booked him for their weddings!”

Advice for other brides and grooms?
“Try to enjoy every moment of the day! I know this is a massive cliché, but the day goes so quickly. I like to think back about each section of it and can’t believe how smoothly it all went. Also don’t get too nervous or stressed, it will all come together on the day, and nobody knows if something isn’t quite right, only you.”

What was your highlight of the day?
“Being able to choose music to soundtrack our full day was a massive highlight for me. After the ceremony, which was amazing, we walked back down the aisle to ‘God Only Knows’ by the Beach Boys which has been one of my favourite songs since I was little – my Dad’s influence. We then chose the songs that the band played at the reception and chose ‘Let’s Stay Together’ by Al Green as our First Dance. When we first booked the wedding, we were both nervous about the first dance and actually considered not doing one, however, that song (which we both love) put us both at ease and when we were dancing, it felt like there was only us two in the room.”
