Durham Castle: Victoria and Christopher’s Wonderful and Romantic Happily Ever After

DATE

“Where do I even begin, to describe the most magical day of our lives?”

Boasting history and character, Durham Castle, played home to Victoria and Christopher’s wedding day, promising them everything they had ever dreamed of and more.

Wishing for a sentimental day that they would cherish forever, the couple had their hearts set on this stunning venue from the very start and this is where the wedding planning began.

The Venue:

‘Durham Castle is one of the premier venues for wedding receptions in the North East.’

Victoria and Christopher fell in love with the 11thcentury English Castle, set in the very heart of Durham.

The stone walls and stain glass windows added a traditional touch, while the grand spaces and enchanting atmosphere gave the wow factor to the couple’s magical wedding day.

Victoria said: “We knew from the start of planning we wanted our wedding to be sentimental and traditional and knew that keeping everything British (with a few exceptions) was close to our hearts and styles.

We married in our local church, St. Cuthbert’s – the quaintest little building and held our reception at the beautiful Durham Castle.

We filled the church with our most precious family and friends and were never apart from each other all day. I also arranged to have our French Bulldog, Bobbie, meet us at the church once we were married, as a surprise for Christopher.

The service from beginning to end was second to none. When I was growing up, my dream was to get married at Durham Castle - picture perfect and in my home city.”

The Dress:

“I knew when I put my dress on, it was the one. I always said I didn't want low cut or any gems but this dress had both! I was so in love and it had the regal princess look I always wanted,” said Victoria.

Victoria stepped out in a stunning Ronald Joyce gown, with full skirt and lace sleeves. Tiny embellishment appeared on the bodice, adding elegance and beauty, while the understated skirt was glamorous and chic – nothing short of perfect for this fairytale wedding.

The Bride’s Words:

“It rained and it poured while we got married, but when we left the church there was glorious sunshine to greet us to married life.

We laughed, we cried and danced to our favourite songs, Elton John – The Way You Look Tonight and Frank Sinatra – New York.

Make it all about you as a couple and don't forget to take the opportunity to spend time with each other on your day!

It was truly wonderful to say the least!”
