Gretna Green: Kelly and Kevin's Intimate, Family-Oriented Wedding Celebration
Renowned for it’s history, this small wedding venue, Gretna Green, situated on the Scotland and England borders, provided the intimate wedding celebration Kelly and Kevin had always dreamed of.
Kelly and Kevin’s eyes first met on a bank holiday weekend at their local pub. Kelly said: “It was his electricians work pants that first attracted me to him!”
Kelly and Kevin have been best friends ever since taking their relationship to the next level.
THE VENUE:
‘The Original Home of Romance.’
With over 260 years of weddings and boasting a warm and welcoming atmosphere, the Famous Blacksmiths Shop, Gretna Green, is Scotland’s most famous wedding venue.
“It was the history of Gretna Green which originally attracted me to this venue for our wedding day.
I think Gretna Green is such a happy place with all the lovely and exciting marriages that have taken place there and I’m glad to be a part of that history. It really does have an amazing atmosphere when you visit,” Kelly reflected.
The low wooden beams, hanging lanterns and stone walls, oozed the historic and intimate feel, Kelly and Kevin had come to know and love.
THE DRESS:
Kelly said: “I’m not a traditional wedding dress type therefore, bridal shops were not really an option for me. Even though it was only the six of us, I still wanted the ‘wow’ factor.”
After hours of searching for her dream dress online, Kelly fell in love with this stunning two-piece, with long sleeves, lace detailing and ruffled skirt.
THE BRIDE’S ADVICE:
“Big or small weddings are both very special, stay true to your hearts and have the wedding day you both want.
Making the decision to only invite our parents, made our day perfect for us. We could relax and enjoy their company and spend the whole day together, laughing and loving every minute.”
