REAL WEDDING

READ THE ROMANCE

WHERE IT ALL BEGAN

When long-term lovers Charlotte and David had their first date over nachos in 2013 after a dishevelled (“I still had a backcombed beehive from the night before”), hungover day of promo work, the pair probably couldn’t have imagined that almost a decade later, they would be dressed to the nines, saying their vows in front of all their loved ones. But as our bride says “the rest is history, and the future is set to be even better.” This shared romantic idealism is perhaps what fuelled their exhaustive quest for the perfect tie-the-knot spot.

 #BELLELOVES

Embracing the low-key European feel of the day, the bride and her girls opted for a Coco Chanel-worthy monochromatic palette, with their slinky black bridesmaid maxis complementing her pared-back, structured gown. C’est très chic.

“We originally wanted to marry abroad, but it meant more to have my nanna and grandad there,” Charlotte explains. Luckily, once the couple set their sights on Le Petit Château on the outskirts of Newcastle upon Tyne, they found a venue that brought the destination-wedding setting home to them.

FRENCH FANTASY

The luxury French-inspired space offers sophisticated intimacy, from its grand Belle Époque-era fireplace and crystal chandeliers – which matched the elegant aesthetic this bride and groom was seeking – to its boutique bedrooms, suites and apartments, which meant that the duo’s nearest and dearest could spend the night before and after the main event celebrating with them.

 WHAT THEY WORE

Charlotte wore a Stella York dress from Liverpool Bridal Boutique, accessorised with Charlotte Mills shoes, a Swarovski bracelet and Fine Jewellery Company necklace.

David wore a Moss Bros. suit and Loake shoes.

A FEAST FIT FOR A BRIDE

And with a background in hospitality, Prosecco van business-owning, Charlotte’s other big focus was the day’s food, drink and entertainment. Luckily, Le Petit Chateau was able to deliver, providing the reception revellers with a menu of fresh Greek salad, cod, sirloin of beef, raspberry and blueberry cheesecake, brownies and lashings of palate-cleansing limoncello sorbet, washed down with fizz and apple mocktails. There was even a side of singing waiters – booked to surprise David. Loved ones went on to dance the night away to a mix of live sax and disco beats, fuelled by late-night pizza.

DAVID AND I HAD BEEN WALKING AROUND LIKE CHESHIRE CATS AND IT WAS THE BEST FEELING IN THE WORLD: PURE HAPPINESS. WHEN I WOKE UP THE NEXT DAY, MY CHEEKS WERE SORE FROM SMILING SO MUCH.
