Acklam Hall: Sophie and Joe’s Relaxed and Traditional Wedding Celebration
“We planned the most perfect day for both of us.”
A traditional proposal in an intimate setting - Joe asked Sophie to marry him, in the beautiful setting of Bali, two years ago.
Their love story began when they met back in 2013, where they both studied the Legal Practice Course at university.
Sophie and Joe wanted a relaxed and laid-back wedding day, surrounded by their closest family and friends and Acklam Hall ensured all of their wedding dreams came true.
The Venue:
‘Acklam Hall: Voted #1 Romantic Place To Get Married’
With over 300 years worth of character and charm, this historic building, Acklam Hall, was home to the traditional wedding of Sophie and Joe. Situated in the very heart of the North East, this hidden gem promised the perfect romantic backdrop for Sophie and Joe’s day.
Sophie said: “It was very important for us to have a religious ceremony, which was conducted by a priest, very well known to both of us.
Acklam Hall was the very first venue we visited and we knew it was perfect for our evening celebration. We wanted a traditional wedding and Acklam Hall was perfect.
The wedding menu was exceptional and we love that we can still visit Acklam Hall regularly, as it now holds very special memories for us.”
Rich golden colours decorated the hall, while gorgeous flower bouquets stood proud as centrepieces. The hanging chandeliers and floor-to-ceiling windows added nothing less than luxury and charm.
The Dress:
“I saw a dress I liked online and booked an appointment at Joanne Kay Bridal Boutique. I attended the appointment with my mum, Joe’s mum and both nana’s, where we all enjoyed a glass of bubbly to celebrate.
This was the first dress I tried on and immediately knew it was the one. The boutique also offered an alteration service and altered my dress perfectly,” Sophie said.
Fit for a princess – Sophie stepped out in a beautiful long sleeved Stella York gown with embroidered-lace neckline. This stunning fit-and-flare dress was enhanced with bold lace detailing, a scalloped lace trim and delicate button up back.
The Bride’s Advice:
“Try to be organised and book suppliers as early as possible – they fill up very fast and are often booked more than a year in advance. Therefore, if you want to bag your first choice suppliers, you need to get in as soon as possible!
As cliché as it sounds, enjoy every second of the day as it really is the best day of your lives and it goes far too quickly!”
