Thicket Priory: Kate and Thomas' Peaceful Wedding at the Exquisite Country House

DATE

A weekend getaway for Kate and Tom became unforgettable when, during a day out in Verona, Tom knelt down on one knee, in front of Kate, with a Tiffany’s ring on Valentine’s Day. After he popped the question, the pair popped the bottle of champagne that Tom had been carrying in his rucksack in the hope that Kate said yes!Image by Joanne Lawrence Photography

The Venue

Designed by the architect of Buckingham Palace, this luxurious country house, set in eighteen peaceful acres of romantic gardens truly is the secret gem of Yorkshire.

For Kate and Thomas, who’s biggest must have for their wedding day was a stunning, yet spacious venue which would be big enough for all of their guests, Thicket Priory not only offered everything they needed from a venue; but the attentive staff ensured that the whole day moved along seamlessly from start to finish.

“The venue doesn’t need styling, it’s beautiful already.” – Kate

Although Thicket Priory is the ideal blank canvas venue, with glittering chandeliers dripping from the ceiling, a private chapel and a lake, swing and a bandstand outside, the statement setting also lends itself to being its own theme. Kate and Thomas couldn’t have asked for more and didn’t need to change a thing.

The Dress

Kate knew she couldn’t go wrong when she took her step-mum, best friend and two sister-in-laws to find her wedding gown. All were honest, outspoken, and with the help of the staff at Treasured Brides in York, helped her pick a beautifully fitted gown from Essense of Australia. The delicate, embroidered train followed Kate as she stepped down the aisle during the outdoor ceremony in front of the ethereal country house.
