Ask Chris about the highlight of his wedding day and he’ll tell you, tongue in cheek, it was that Laura turned up to the church on time! “Considering she is never on time for anything, it was the biggest surprise of the day,” he laughed.

Laura on the other hand struggles to pinpoint her favourite part of the day: “It’s hard to choose because the whole occasion was just incredible: from everyone who was there, to the spectacular venue and the amazing food and drink.”

The couple, who met on a popular dating app (“We both swiped right”), exchanged vows in November at St Stephen’s Church in Skipton, before celebrating their special day at the newly renovated 16th Century Tithe Barn, on the Duke of Devonshire’s Bolton Abbey Estate, in North Yorkshire.

Chris and Laura took a relaxed approach to planning their big day, not allowing themselves to become stressed or overwhelmed in the run up, and ensured the focus was firmly on fun and laughter for all those who shared the happy occasion.

“Neither of us were precious about anything sentimental, we just wanted all our family and friends around us, having a laugh and a thoroughly good time. Safe to say everyone enjoyed themselves,” said Chris.

The Tithe Barn:

Chris and Laura booked The Tithe Barn after their first viewing, having fallen in love with its stunning setting overlooking the Priory ruins and River Wharfe.

“It is the greatest venue in the whole of Yorkshire, in our humble opinion, and is simply breath-taking, particularly because of its backdrop looking on to Bolton Abbey,” said Laura. “The food and drink were a class above and the staff there are absolutely brilliant. There is not one thing we would have changed about it; it was perfect.”

The Photographer:

Contemporary wedding photographer Kirsty Mattsson’s work caught Chris and Laura’s eye when they were looking online for someone to capture their day.

“We had been in touch with a few photographers before Kirsty, but as soon as we met her, we knew she was the one,” said Laura. “She has a very outgoing personality and her photos are stunning. They are very natural shots and captured the emotion of the day perfectly.”
