Make-Up Trend - Less Is More
Georgia Gow tells Belle Bridal readers about the latest make-up trend; less is more...
Getting married is a big deal, a huge deal in fact, and there’s so much to organise and plan before your big day such as the guests, the seating plan, the flowers and of course the dresses and suits. With all that going on, as well as ordinary life getting in the way, sometimes having time to put effort into your make-up on a morning simply doesn’t exist, so why not try the ‘no make-up, make-up’ trend? With the likes of Loewe, Balenciaga, Christian Dior and Celine testing the trend during the recent fashion months, it’s proved to be a huge hit proving that less really is more.
Step one:
Cleanse and Moisturise
Skin care plays a significant role when starting your make-up routine in the morning. Cleansing your face from the oils/residue from the night before ensures a fresh and clean canvas before applying your base. You can pick up some great cleansers and moisturiser’s from both high-end and drugstores to suit your skin type.

Step two:
Back to basics on the Base
The right foundation is crucial to making this trend look effortless. Ideally you want a foundation that will cover all bases: good coverage, give an even complexion and that's long-lasting. It has to be worth your money, and versatile enough to wear as a natural base to just enhance your skin tone or cover up any imperfections, as well as able to build coverage and work with other products for a more ‘done up’ finish.

Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation - £32.50 (Debenhams)
Step three:
Adding the definition to your face
Contouring and strobing have been huge trends and that doesn’t have to stop when you’re trying out the ‘no make-up, make-up’ trend. Considering this is a trend which focuses on looking like you’re wearing very little make-up, if not any at all, there can be quite a few products that go into the mix depending on the finish you’re going for. Adding definition to your face through using highlighter, blusher and/or bronzer simply adds shape to your face and create an illusion of a more chiselled bone structure, slimmer frame or just enhance what you already have.

Step four:
An EYE for detail
Your eyes can say a thousand words for how you’re feeling that day, whether you’re overworked or excited and full of the joys of spring. So why not pay attention to the detail of your eyes and work with neutral, glowing tones of eye shadows to enhance your features. Also a flick of mascara never hurt anybody, and enhancing the lashes automatically gives you a wide-awake look, without looking ‘made-up’.

Step five:
Let the lips do the talking
Investing in a good lipstick can take the ‘no make-up, make-up’ trend from zero to hero in 0.5 seconds. With so many peachy, nude and pink tones out there to purchase, there’s one for whichever skin type you are and any season of the year. Let your lips be the finishing touch for your natural make-up look.
