WONDERLAND - This Weekend - Why You Need To Be There
Ahead of our iconic W O N D E R L A N D Wedding Show this Sunday at Charlton Hall (brides, this is one epic event and showcases every single magnificently unique space at the hall including the BRAND NEW Looking Glass celebration suite) we thought we’d give you ten amazing reasons why Charlton Hall should be top of your venue list.
Tucked away in the picturesque Northumbrian countryside lies Charlton Hall, a Grade II 18th-century stately home; the house that plays with the rules. Charlton Hall offers a truly unique wedding experience, allowing couples to go for bold and create a bespoke wedding with designer accommodation, for the most luxurious stay away from home.
1. Through The Looking Glass
Captivating both inside and out, the newly developed Looking Glass suite is a beautiful, versatile space that provides the perfect backdrop to host a party like no other for up to 140 day guests and 200 evening guests. The pièce de résistance? A starlight ceiling installation containing no less than 1560 twinkling lights that illuminate the room as your celebrations continue into the night.
2. Ceremony Hall
A truly spectacular, unique place to say ‘I do’ in front of up to 140 guests. The striking geometric floor juxtaposes period stone walls draped liberally in fairy lights, while the Cinderella-style chairs reflect and refract the light every which way, ensuring a simply magical ceremony.
3. An extraordinary setting
Set within a private 150-acre estate in Northumberland, Charlton Hall looks out towards the coast and enjoys panoramic views across uninterrupted countryside surroundings. Accessed via a private, tree-lined driveway from the A1, the hall’s locale is idyllic yet also incredibly easy to access.
4. Designer interiors
Expect bespoke art created by world-renowned artist Vanessa Foley, soft furnishings by emerging designer Gung-ho, wallpaper by House of Hackney, décor by Mulberry and touches throughout by Manuel Canovas, Pierre Frey, Harlequin Sumi, Matthew Williamson and Diane Von Furstenberg to name a few.
5. Gourmet cuisine
Crafted by their talented chefs, Charlton Hall’s menus have been creatively curated using the finest, locally sourced and seasonal British produce. The delicious flavours and impeccable service make for an unrivalled wedding dining experience.
6. After hours
Hidden beneath the Hall, the underground vaults provide a cheeky ‘extra’. Open after hours, this secret space takes inspiration from Hollywood’s golden age with vibrant neon strip lighting reflecting off the exposed stone and brick walls. Completed with comfortable leather wingback and barrel chairs and a jukebox, you can continue your after party in style.
7. Wee wee with Rhi Rhi
Yes, really. Not for the faint hearted, the loos are sure to raise an eyebrow or two. The vibrant pink staircase will quite literally light your way to the Looking Glass loos, where red lip urinals are surrounded by bespoke graffiti from artist Lynsey Jean Henderson and a glamorous pink powder room awaits.
8. Sleep it off
Introducing Charlotte, Alfie, Ella, Lydia, Harry and Eliza – the six sumptuous ensuite bedrooms within the hall exclusively reserved for you and your wedding party. Stable Cottage sits adjacent to the hall and accommodates a further 4 guests.
9. At your service
The team specialise in creating celebrations that are completely bespoke to you. Whether you dream of a classic fairytale or an off-the-wall story of elegance (or perhaps a bit of both) there is no doubt the team will deliver an unforgettable experience.
