The location for this stunning shoot was La Rondinaia which translates to Swallow’s Nest; fitting as it lies above the town of Ravello, on the Amalfi Coast.

Clinging theatrically to the mountainside, a thousand or so feet above Mediterranean, this stunning villa is the former home of American writer, actor and intellectual Gore Vidal.

It was here, La Rondinaia, Gore Vidal wrote a good selection of his masterpieces and hosted over the years well-known personalities like Tennessee Williams, Paul Newman, Jane Woodward, Susan Sarandon, Tim Robins, Peter O’Toole, Andy Warhol, Paul Morrisey, Nureyev, Mick & Bianca Jagger, Sting and First Lady Hillary Clinton.

Vertiginous views are aplenty, as is the beauty of the surrounding grounds, with its olive and chestnut trees, wisteria bougainvillea and enormous cypresses.

The villa also boasts six newly refurbished suites, over four floors, an abundance of terraces and a large pool set amongst the lush mature gardens.
