Styled Shoot: Healing Manor, The Wild Rose

DATE 15 June 2020

Set in rural Lincolnshire on the outskirts of Grimsby, Healing Manor is a rustic-luxe wedding venue with a whole lot of history and period features aplenty.

As well as a wealth of versatile celebration spaces, outbuildings and 37 sumptuous guest rooms, the spectacular estate is also home to 36 acres of idyllic grounds – complete with a willow-draped lake, a stunning moated island and pretty formal gardens.

With photogenic backdrops including the untamed romance of the surrounding woodlands, the countrified chic of the restored barn and the intimate grandeur the main house – especially The Cure-All Lounge’s statement fireplace and eclectic décor – the hotel was the ideal setting for this shoot’s twin themes of natural beauty and sophisticated refinement.

Simplistic Style:

Styled with sweet simplicity, the first bridal look was a dreamy full-length lace overlay gown with an open, scallop-edged back, handmade by Susanna Greening Designs.

To echo the low-key romance of the dress, hairstylist Unity created soft waves and pinned the model’s balayage bob in an effortless half-up half-down look with handmade pearl Amore Headwear hair pins.

The second bridal look was a slinky fluid silk showstopper with a sultry plunging neckline.

To complement the gown’s glamorous silhouette and fit, the model was given a sleek chignon, accented with clusters of pearl pins.

Wonderfully Wild:

Stationery supplier Wild Calligraphy’s delicately wild vision for the day was reflected in Coco in the Country’s textural floral installations, from the foliage-rich alfresco arrangements to the loose bouquets of pastel pink roses, blowsy ranunculi and lush greenery, hand-tied with frayed silk ribbons.

Tranquil Tones:

The subtle colour palette of natural pinks, nude and white with edgy black details was carried through to the stationery and venue décor, with the pretty painterly Rock Paper Nib invitations and unstructured floral displays sitting alongside modernist monochrome Wild Calligraphy menus and matt black charger plates and black taper candles in contemporary gold holders.

And at the centre of Sass Weddings’ laidback reception styling was The Confetti Cakery’s contemporary-cool three-tiered white and dusky-pink watercolour wedding cake, adorned with a ribbon-tied rose.
