#ONTHEGUESTLIST: Luxus Events Share Their Predictions for 2021 Weddings

DATE 18 October 2020

Step forward Luxus Events, the ultimate wedding styling and planning experts gracing our online #guestlist of luxe suppliers.
From show-stopping tablescapes to Pinterest-worthy aisle style, these guys make magical marriages happen all over the world.
Here, owner and luxury event planner Melinda talks us through her big trends for 2021, suggesting there’s much to look forward to in the wonderful world of weddings.

Micro Wedding Trend

The micro wedding trend will continue into 2021, and small luxe intimate weddings will remain popular.
The guest experience has been a major focus for couples, they want to spend quality time with the most important people in their lives, show their love and gratitude for them, by making them feel extra special.

Guest Experience

As weddings require a reduced number of guests in the light of the pandemic, couples will have more budget to allocate towards things like their décor, attire, stationery, floral designs and entertainment.
Some couples will go all out to add more extravagant and lavish touches to their design, to create a wow factor and offer an unforgettable and meaningful experience that will leave their guests raving (e.g. making a statement by creating a wedding arch and using big, bold, and beautiful blooms as floral detail).

We can expect more creative and modern elements in the décor, table designs will look more like editorial shoots infused with gorgeous details.
Such as elegant crystal glassware, layered china, lots of candles and personalised elements like monogram embroidered napkins, personalised velvet ribbons, and even edible place cards.

Outdoor Weddings

Outdoor weddings will become increasingly popular, as they are considered to be safer. For this reason, we will see a lot more tent weddings with gorgeous fairy light designs.

Interactive Entertainment

More couples are including interactive entertainment for their wedding day, such as a live painter painting a picture of the wedding as it happens, sketch artists sketching guests, acrobats, magicians, champagne skirts and choreographed dances (some couples will want to show off what they have learnt on Tik Tok during quarantine!)

Food Trends

Couples will be looking to create interactive and unique culinary experiences to impress their guests and engage their five senses.
We will see more personalised menus, roaming food bars and interactive food stations, like food “islands” which are designed to help the guest flow, avoiding lines and creating a real gastronomic journey.
Due to the environmentally conscious philosophy, healthy and green dietary lifestyles are trending. This means we will see more creative vegetarian and vegan options in wedding menus.
Because of this, the use of seasonal and locally grown ingredients will become increasingly popular.

Multi-day Weddings

I see more couples looking for exclusive venues that offer unique experiences, and adopting the “fewer guests, more days” mentality, making their weddings multi-day instead, so they can spend more time with their loved ones.

They are looking for venues that can be perfectly adapted to a myriad of settings, pre and post-wedding excursions and activities.
These consist of everything from lavish brunches to activities such as clay pigeon shooting and spa days.

The Bride That Wore Two (or three, or four...)

Reducing the number of guests means couples can allocate more of their budget to their outfit, hence it’s likely that a lot of brides will wear more than one dress on their wedding day with different styles.

We will see wedding dresses with big puffy sleeves, sparkles and ruffles, coloured wedding dresses will be a popular option too as brides will be looking for fun, playful, innovative styles to express their individuality and surprise their guests.
Brides are also looking to add sentimental touches like embroidered veils, to add more personalisation to their outfit.

Lounge Areas

Outdoor lounges will be popular in 2021, the focus will be creating a welcoming and intimate atmosphere for guests, which is also comfortable and safe. For example, bringing the indoors outdoors, into the grounds with a beautiful natural backdrop.
We expect to see stylish and comfortable lounge-seating furniture decorated with greenery and other natural design elements, which are great for comfort and warmth, making the guests feel at home, so likely to stay seated for longer and enjoy the party more.

Visual Planning & Design

The increasing demand for digital invitations and virtual weddings has seen new technology introduced for visual planning and design experiences.
We recently introduced our digital design process (consisting of digital mock-up’s, CGI images and digital illustrations) to help clients to visualise how each element of the design would fit together.
This enables us to create the customised, cohesive feel and luxury experience they are looking for, which became massively popular during lockdown.
Many clients had to postpone their wedding and change their existing design, however with these digital tools, we managed to overcome the challenges and kept the planning process alive and continue to deliver our clients’ vision.
