Black is Back...
Can you tell us a little bit about how Evie Black started?
Whilst trying to find an outfit for my daughters wedding, it soon became apparent that occasion wear boutiques were few and far between in County Durham. I also found that through talking to other ladies of a certain age, there seemed to be a need for a boutique that offered not only affordable designer outfits, but could offer the fascinator/hat, shoes and bag too. Hence the idea to open my own business in partnership with my daughter, who brings youth and a different viewpoint.

AS A NEW BUSINESS WE HAVE SURVIVED THE PANDEMIC AND ARE STILL HERE READY TO OFFER A FABULOUS SERVICE TO THE LADIES OF COUNTY DURHAM.
SHARON, THE OWNER
Where did the name come from?
The name Evie is my favourite girls name, and then Black just seemed to fit perfectly. So I guess it's just out of my head!
Talk to us about your collections. What labels do you stock and why?
We have some great collections to show our customers from Ispirato, Lizabella, Sonia Pena, Veromia and Dress Up, ranging in sizes from 8 – 30. We have sourced our labels with these things in mind:
•Wearability – can be worn for more than one occasion and still be special enough for the mother of the bride or groom.
•Comfort – especially our ‘Curvy Lady’ collections.
•Price – we all know how expensive weddings can be so we are conscious this is a very important factor for many of our customers.
Mothers of the bride/groom love our boutique because…
Of the personal service and private appointments. Many of our customers are nervous even to the point of worrying about the experience before they visit. Our reviews speak for themselves –

WE PUT THEM AT EASE, LISTEN TO THEIR REQUIREMENTS AND ALLOW THEM TO VIEW OUR COLLECTIONS IN OUR GORGEOUS ENVIRONMENT WITHOUT ANY PRESSURE TO PURCHASE.
SHARON, THE OWNER
They love our beautiful fitting room where they are usually surprised and amazed at how gorgeous they look. Its surprising how many don’t want a fascinator, but walk out with the largest available!
What are your plans for 2022?
Hopefully in 2022 we will continue to go from strength to strength and continue to offer our customers fabulous outfits. So lovely ladies if you have an invitation – we have the outfit – and we look forward to seeing you soon, you won’t be disappointed.
