OUR MARRIAGE MONARCHS
You've probably all seen it – the headlines calling Glossier's founding CEO out for stepping down from her role, "The sunsetting of the Girl Boss" one media outlet called it. Emily's decision comes as she expects her first child and recognises that the brand needs to move in a different direction. Which is perfectly acceptable.
For a brand that has disrupted the beauty industry and made inroads in female empowerment and for a woman who has featured in the Forbes 30 Under 30 list and included in Time magazine's "Next 100", such headlines seem unjustified. Add to this the timeliness of us all donning our union J's and heading out for victoria sponges to celebrate Queen Elizabeth's 70th year as queen, and it all feels a little all too contradictory - if predicable.
It only highlights the state of a system that rewards women for their achievements before tearing them down at any given opportunity. Shining a light on this overtly covert sexism women in business face (how dare we be a female and run a business at the same time?!) is not only essential but powerful, too –especially when you consider the monumental strides female entrepreneurs have taken in the wedding industry.
So today we are saying a big hurrah for our very own Belle Bridal entrepreneurs...you go lovelies!
