Our first post of 2012 is full of love for one very special bridal brand that have caught our eye while putting together Belle Bridal SS12.
Sanyukta Shrestha is a London-based, Nepalese born, designer that specialises in the most beautiful couture gowns with a twist – all of the fabrics are ethical, eco-friendly and handcrafted.
After graduating from the London College of Fashion, Sanyukta worked in the bridal design and retail industry in the UK for fiver years before setting up her own label. With her unique approach to design, she has brought a fresh breath of air to the British bridal industry.
Sanyukta aims to create opportunities for women in her homeland by turning their traditional skills into delicate fabrics and exquisite designs. Most of the fibres used in the collection of hats, fascinators and accessories are wild fibres that are skilfully hand spun by village women in Nepal. Each gown is made from fabrics sourced from ethical and fair-trade manufacturers such as: soft hemp silk, 100% bamboo, 100% wild nettle, wild hemp, organic silk, soya, banana, 100% organic & fair-traded cotton – all hand-loomed in Nepal and assembled in the UK.
The 2012 collection features expertly made gowns that can be easily transformed with just a few key accessories into something truly breathtaking. Using Sanyukta’s jackets, boleros and millinery to create a high style look – ethical fashion has never been so beautiful.
