Story of the Shoot...
Gina, the baking extraordinaire from Scarborough-based Ginilla Cakes, talks us through this shoot – organised by Gee Events – from concept to completion, and how a group of local suppliers combined to create a swoon-worthy masterpiece of marriage material by the coast.
“The concept for the shoot was to let local suppliers shine in a natural diverse landscape. We met with the group on Zoom before the shoot to discuss the key elements we wanted to achieve – natural tones a with focus on botanical elements and a nod to boho styling.
REAL LIFE REHEARSAL:
Kirsty the hairstylist approached her friend Rebecca and asked if she and her partner Jaime would model for us. A real couple who are to be married next year at Raven Hall. It was the perfect dress rehearsal for them!
Deciding on a venue was easy, Jess our Makeup artist suggested Raven Hall. A stunning location in between Whitby and Scarborough overlooking panoramic sea views and beautiful countryside. The hall is steeped in history and is still surrounded in a Roman fort built in the 5th century, and has royal links with George III visiting there!

THE GRAND HALL WAS THE PERFECT SETTING FOR OUR INDOOR SETUP WITH ITS BEAUTIFUL, NATURAL STONE WALLS, FIREPLACE, STAIRCASE AND ARCHED WINDOWS.
GINA, THE BAKER
On the day Georgia (Gee Events) was at the Hall bright and early along with Kirsty (Minnie Bees Florist) to start setting up the props and florals needed for the shoot.
We were last to arrive to set up the cake with everyone busying themselves, Jacob the photographer capturing all the action as it unfolded. Every supplier played their part amazingly. This being our first styled shoot and not knowing what to expect, we were pleasantly surprised at just how relaxed and easy it was.

TRULY TALENTED, PROFESSIONAL SUPPLIERS WHO KNOW THEIR JOBS INSIDE OUT. IT WAS AN ABSOLUTE PLEASURE WORKING WITH THEM ALL.
GINA, THE BAKER
Even the weather played its part! About a month before the shoot we had miserable weather, lots of rain and we were thinking we would have to change our plans with the outdoor element of the shoot so Georgia who styled the shoot made contingencies for this. However, luck was with us and it was the first sunny day we’d had in so long, a huge relief for us all.
We were tasked with creating biscuits to compliment the top table arrangement and mini cakes for the staircase pictures. For the cakes we used our most popular flavour, white chocolate and raspberry and iced with a floral heart design and gold flecks.
The cake was in keeping with the brief and tied all the elements together, just as a wedding day cake should. Keeping it natural, classic white with a gold hoop adorned with sugar roses, eucalyptus dried pampas and pheasant feathers (a nod to the details on the fabulous suit provided by Dandy Threads). Lace detailing finished off the design, tying in with the stunning gown that Little Pearl Bridal provided.”
