21st Century Royal Wedding Inspired Photoshoot

DATE 5 March 2018

With Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s big day just around the corner we can't help but be swept up in all the Royal Wedding hype. What kind of dress will Meghan wear? Will she wear her hair up or down? What kind of flowers will make up her fit-for-a-princess bouquet?

Charlotte Clemie Photography and stylist Leanne Megson from Set The Scene have combined creative forces and given us an insight into what the regal event of the year could look like.

Set against the beautiful backdrop of Saltmarshe Hall, traditional gold metallics and soft silks create an utterly romantic scene for this 21st Century Regal inspired shoot.

Hair and Make-up inspiration for the shoot came from Meghan’s own timeless style
and natural beauty.

This look is perfect for a modern Princess, showcasing glowing hollywood skin,
smoldering eyes and flushed cheeks whilst being long lasting and photographing
beautifully.

The make-up look was created by Yorkshire based professional hair and make-up
artist Julia Jeckell for our model, Kirsty, with Meghan’s classic and timeless beauty in
mind.

Radha, from White Rose Cakes, believes Meghan and Harry will want to keep their spring wedding cake
traditional and elegant but will add their own modern 21st century stamp.
Royal wedding cakes have historically been white and gold, so she kept this
colour scheme throughout the design as she feels the couple will want to continue this
custom.

Royal weddings are always styled so classical and timeless, which is just the look our creative stationer and stylist
believe Meghan and Harry will continue as a royal family tradition. With this in mind
they chose white and gold hues to keep in line with a fairy tale
wedding fit for a princess.

Leanne from Set The Scene used white satin tablecloths which provided a touch of shimmer and also a feel of ultimate luxury. To incorporate the chosen colour palette they chose to display gold beaded glass charger plates, which are a stunning decorative piece to add to a table setting. To complete the look they added a slight hint of glitz in the shape of gold beaded napkin rings.

Centerpieces consisted of  Blossom trees, which are the new
romantic wedding centerpiece favorite for this year. Since blossom trees are the
symbolic flower of the spring and a time of renewal they fit perfectly for
this styled shoot. The trees were dressed with hanging glass
baubles and real candlelight to set the mood of romance.

The use of gorgeous vintage lace – so popular with brides at the moment – reflects Meghan’s
love of this material in her wardrobe, evoking the high-necked lace dress she wore to
Christmas lunch at Buckingham Palace, when she was formally introduced to Her
Majesty The Queen. The gold ribbon, wrapping the card, is both a traditional symbol of
their union, and reflects the Royals' love of the highly-sought after Welsh gold, used in
the wedding rings of the Royal family for over a century.

The centrepiece of the stationery is a touching way for Harry to celebrate the two
most influential women in his life who cannot be with him and Meghan on their big day.
A ring of pearls – the gemstones most commonly associated with Her Majesty The
Queen Mother – are delicately set among a bed of crystals, as every avid Royal
watcher knows this is a nod to The Spencer Tiara, which was the Swarovski tiara worn
by Diana on her wedding day.

For the bouquet The Allotment Bride Florist interestingly included Myrtle leaves throughout. This is a subtle tradition linking all Royal Brides since Queen Victoria. Myrtle is known as The Herb of Love. To have it in your bouquet is said to bring good luck in love and the marriage.

The sheer pannelling and intricate lace combination on the gown with additional daring low back offers a fashionable nod to both luxury and modernity. A detatchable skirt is also a major trend for 2018.
