Play that Funky Music...

With Covid-19 wedding guest lists shrinking to an intimate gathering 30 (and at the time of writing, yet further to 15), the quest for a social-distanced setting that doesn’t scrimp on style takes a lot of imagination.

Luckily, Cumbria’s rustic-chic boutique big-day venue, Eden Park, with its 100 acres of charming scenery, winsome 200-year-old barn and eclectic mix of chandeliers and exposed stone walls, is the ideal blank canvas for a bohemian bash with a personalised twist. Cue the smoke bombs…

That Seventies Show

Inspired by Bohemia Bell Tent’s owner Lauren’s planned nuptials – she’s set to marry here – the creative team made the most of Eden Barn’s endless outdoor space, industrial tin sheds and cosy barns, assembling a hippy-chic wedding layout with numerous celebration spots, from an intimate altar and retro outdoor retreat to a full-blown boho disco.

BELLE LOVES:

Curated in a seventies-inspired warm tonal palette of rust, orange and coppers, with accents of vintage wicker and mirrorball dazzle, this styled shoot exuded serious time-travelling country glamour.

Undercover Lovers

Real-life couple Meg and Spike took on the starring roles in this styled shoot, easily settling into the free-spirited romance of the alfresco lounge outside their foliage-trimmed bell tent. Anchored by a table set with draped fabrics and mismatched vases of wispy pampas grasses, the space’s artfully strewn patterned rugs, scatter cushions and straw pillows made for the perfect laidback seating area for drinks mingling – strictly no shoes allowed!

Resplendent in a filmy lace dress and statement Folky Dokey headdress, our bride and her groom made affectionate drinks toasts in the sunshine.

Love to Love You Baby

Taking vows against a fairy light-draped backdrop, groom Spike opted for a white-and-brown floral print suit with satin-look shirt, while Meg was an ethereal dream in frothy lace and tulle separates, one of several elegant but easy-going Catherine Deane looks.

Flanked on either side by mixed mirrorballs and a beautifully structured floral display of exotic flamingo flowers, cactus and pompom dahlias, roses, poppies, bleached pampas grass, ferns, eucalyptus and palm fronds, the alluring yet low-key altar hinted at the reception’s hedonism to come.

Disco Inferno

After a swift costume change, the lovers were ready for a celebration of Studio 54 proportions. While Spike stepped back in time once more with a dapper chocolate slim-fit suit and matching loafers, Meg radiated modern disco luxe in a sequin-dappled champagne gown, complete with a sweetheart neckline and billowing sheer tulle sleeves.

Her glossy mane was teased into a messy updo, and her sultry beauty look was given a glittery evening shimmer, while her Bianca Jagger-worthy bridal ensemble was completed with patent white boots.

Following a bijoux wedding supper set-up, where the pair held court in matching peacock chair thrones, overlooking a tablescape of burnt-orange linens, tasselled retro stationery and wicker charger plates, the unveiling of the dramatic three-tier geometric wedding cake – in shades of terracotta, orange, white and silver – was the DJ’s signal to play that funky music.
