FOR REAL BRIDES, BY A REAL BRIDE, FEATURING A REAL BRIDE.

"This shoot was quite a special one, after a year of wedding uncertainty and postponements, including my own, twice! The models for this shoot are real couple, Kerry and Anthony, who’s wedding I should have been styling last year, but they had to postpone to early 2021 and now they have had to postpone a second time until May 2022.

I wondered if they would like the opportunity to play dress up and have a pretend elopement wedding in the beautiful Derbyshire countryside, and they jumped at the chance. We chose the amazing backdrop of Winnats Pass in Castleton and the weather was perfect!

WHY ELOPE?

So many couples are now looking for alternative options and one perfect way is to elope! Eloping used to mean just the two of you driving up to Gretna Green, not telling any of your friends and family and finding random witnesses off the street. This is not the case anymore.

An elopement can be anything or anywhere you want it to be. It can be just you, the celebrant and the photographer. They're a great way to avoid all of the stress that planning a large wedding can bring and make the day about you and what you want, whether it’s the Derbyshire hills, a Loch in the Scottish Highlands or a beach on the Cornish coast – the options are endless. (Plus, you can always decide to have that big party at a later date!)

LOCAL, SUSTAINABLE, SIMPLE.

AS ALWAYS SUSTAINABILITY WAS TOP OF MY MIND.

SAM

We had amazing eco-florist Fran from Limewood Flowers who created a beautiful bouquet and arrangement for the picnic set up, with locally grown British florals. The dress I sourced myself from a bride who had had her special day and wanted her dress to continue it’s journey. And the leather jacket was also a re-loved piece that I found online and had hand painted.

The picnic set up bought together vintage, reclaimed and re-used items including a gorgeous vintage picnic basket with all of the original parts inside. The afternoon itself was so much fun running around the countryside with a ‘Bride and Groom’ bouquet of flowers and picnic basket!
