Oaklands: Leanne and Shaun’s rustic woodland wedding
Set amongst 200 acres of picturesque woodlands, this enchanting wedding venue, like no other, promised Leanne and Shaun the rustic wedding of their dreams.
This hidden treasure, Oaklands, is situated in the heart of rural East Yorkshire, where couples are offered a rustic, woodland area to say their vows.
Leanne and Sean first laid eyes on each other in their local pub, when she was just 17 years old. Leanne said: “I was very outgoing and he was very shy. Our paths crossed for a couple of years, until one night Sean finally plucked up the courage to ask me out.”
THE VENUE:
The couple fell in love with the idea of an outdoor wedding but didn’t want to risk the English weather.
Leanne began to search for venues that had that all-important outdoor feel and from the moment she viewed Oaklands, she fell in love.

The rustic tipi was decked out with hanging fairy lights, candles and ivory intertwined leaves to create that classic and romantic feel.
Leanne and Shaun loved the woodlands surrounding Oaklands, which helped to capture the essence of their relaxed wedding day.
THE DRESS:
Leanne said: “The dress shopping day had come, me, my bridesmaids, my mum and mother-in-law, had planned six bridal shops in one day and lunch in between.
We decided to pop into a walk-in shop, Wed2B, where I tried my dress on and fell in love. I tried three more shops but couldn’t get this dress out of my head. I rang the shop and went back to try it on again, I knew it was the one.”
The bride looked stunning in her fitted, sleek wedding dress, from Wed2B. This classy, figure-hugging dress was scattered in an intricate lace, adding glamour and elegance to the couple’s special day.
Leanne’s look was finished off by her delicate silver jewellery and complemented by Shaun’s brown-checkered suit.
THE BRIDE’S ADVICE:
“Try and enjoy the day you worked so hard to plan. Remember to take five minutes out of the day, with your husband, to enjoy the moment.
The highlight of my day was when Shaun and me went into the woods, surrounding Oaklands, for our first dance.
Fairy lights lit up the woods and we shared a moment of slow dancing, it was perfect. Then the curtains from the tipi opened and the music began. All of our guests came rushing out to join us and that holds special memories for me.”
