Chris and Erin transformed The Old Barn at South Causey Inn into something from a movie set. Inspired by Venice, where Chris popped the question, this couple wanted to incorporate a little bit of this into their wedding celebrations. “My overall plan was just to have all our family come together from all over the world (Australia, Dubai and Gran Canaria) and share our special day. I actually wanted it to rain. Only as I saw some really cool shots by my photographer, Pete, however, we got the total opposite it was the hottest day in May.”
“Kris proposed to me when we were on a mini break in Venice, it was like being on a movie set, just so beautiful. We decided to bring a bit of Venice to the South Causey and a masquerade party on the night time.”
“The venue was really special to me as I had gone to the venue from been a child with my mum. My mother then passed away from breast cancer so I thought that she would be with me in spirit, as she loved the place as well. I also went for riding lessons at the South Causey for years.”
“It is just a beautiful family friendly place, when I took my partner for the first time five years ago he said it felt so nice and warm so had no problems with him agreeing to have the wedding at the South Causey, in fact we still go at least once a week for dinner.”
Advice for other brides and grooms when it comes to wedding planning?
“Inevitably things will not go to plan on the day (and even though I was told the same advice before I got married and thought people were mad for saying it), things that go ‘wrong’ are in reality so small and honestly have no bearing on your big day. All that matters is that you are marrying the love of your life and the day is entirely about you both, nobody or nothing else.”
What was your highlight of the day?
“Obviously marrying my husband, however, I had two horses Pat and Dancer from North East Carriage Company and have to say they were a dream to work with, I just didn’t want to leave them.”
