REAL WEDDING
CUE THE BLOOMS...
After meeting at Loughborough University, Ben on the rugby team and Jen hockey, it was inevitable that their paths would eventually cross, even if they were on separate pitches. Despite initially not falling for Blair’s Scottish charm, one swipe right on Tinder later, the two got chatting again and as they say, the rest was history!
Floral fantasy
Not only the co-owner of Guest List superstar North East florists Jones and Jones, who she runs alongside mum Lynn, Jen is also a floristry lecturer at East Durham College – so it was a given her big day was going to be a floral-filled wonderland.

MY STUDENTS KEPT ASKING ME ABOUT MY FLORAL DECISIONS, SO I FELT SOME PRESSURE! I THINK AS A FLORIST I WAS MORE INDECISIVE AS TO WHAT I WANTED FOR MY OWN WEDDING BECAUSE I’VE SEEN SO MANY AND WANTED TO BE DIFFERENT.

BELLE LOVES: Sustainable backdrops
Like she didn’t already have enough to stress about, Jen wanted to go the extra mile on her day, using only British flowers and no floral foam in order to be as sustainable as possible!
Team Captain
When it came down to planning, Blair let Jen be captain – and she admits that might be why her process was so enjoyable and stress-free!
Sentimental touch
Not only a 30-second walk from their home, the church where Jen and Blair said ‘I do’ is also where her parents got married – talk about close to home...

IT HAS SUCH BEAUTIFUL ARCHITECTURE AND EVERY SUNDAY AT HOME WE HEAR THE BELLS RING, IT’S A REALLY SPECIAL REMINDER OF OUR WEDDING DAY- IT WAS AMAZING HEARING THE BELLS RINGING FOR US FOR ONCE!

Post match
After viewing reception venues that lacked character and didn’t feel like Jen and Blair, the two were sold once they saw Wylam Brewery. With a big Ceilidh being top of their priority list, Wylam brewery provided a space big enough and that they could put their own stamp on.

WE LIKED THE JUXTAPOSITION BETWEEN THE CHURCH AND THE INDUSTRIAL BREWERY - BEST OF BOTH WORLDS!

Q&A
Who gets gold in the wedding Olympics for helping make your day amazing?
1. My Mum! My business partner/ best pal - she made all of the table centers, walked me down the aisle, cleared everything down and still managed to host the post-celebration tea and cake the next day.
2. My best friend Georgia - she just did all of the things I needed before asking when I was up a ladder at 5pm the day before! Things like making dinner and doing the hoovering - superstar!

What’s your funniest memory from the day?
Our wedding car was my father-in-law's vintage drop-top MG, and he had given Blair a 5-minute lesson on how to operate it before the big day. When we were leaving the Church, we got in the car and Blair managed to stall the car 4 times in front of 140 people laughing hysterically at us before he managed to get it going! I was in absolute stitches - I think this is actually one of our nicest photos of us on the day!

And the most special?
Blair’s Uncle plays the bagpipes and he piped us into the room when announcing us as Mr and Mrs Hutchison - that was pretty special! I also loved Blair’s speech - he’s a man of few words so it was lovely to hear his speech that was really from the heart.

WITH COVID, I THINK IT TAUGHT ME TO GO WITH THE FLOW. WE WERE JUST GRATEFUL TO HAVE 140 OF OUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY IN A ROOM TOGETHER, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER THE RIBBONS ON THE NAME PLACES WERE ALL CUT AT AN ANGLE!
