REAL WEDDING

Beautiful blooms, bowties and a sleeping grandad...

“Has anyone ever told you that you look like Pocahontas?” Those were Richard’s first words to Caitlin, in a pub six years ago just before she spilt her drink down his shirt. It sounds like the perfect recipe for a disaster – but this devoted duo saw safety in eachother’s chaos and began their beautiful love story, capped with a sensational proposal from this groom that more than makes up for his lacklustre chat up line.

I gave Caitlin a bear holding a red box that contained 10 reasons why I loved her. Finally reaching the 10th card, she turned around as it read ‘will you marry me?’ and I was down on one knee with her engagement ring. My parents were on the other side of our garden hedge listening and we all celebrated together afterwards.

– Richard

Opting for the Black Horse Beamish’s Orchard Marquee to host their big day, the pair decided that the most important thing was to have an intimate wedding with those they loved most – and with August’s restrictions allowing for 30 guests, they gathered their nearest and dearest exactly five years to the day that they made their relationship official.

WILD AND WONDERFUL:

Inspired by Caitlin’s Chinese heritage, #guestlist floral masterminds Wild and Wonderful transformed this beautiful venue into an oriental paradise, rich with reds, fuchsias and unbridled love. Voluptuous red roses juxtaposed with the black tie dress code for a luxurious sartorial setting, and Caitlin’s dress was a sight to behold.

Dress Details: ‘Lena’, Enzoani from The Wedding Dress Company. A sultry mermaid gown with the most exquisite beaded, embroidered lace sweetheart bodice.

IT WAS SLEEK, FITTED AND ELEGANT, EVERYTHING I IMAGINED IT TO BE.

CAITLIN, THE BRIDE

Q: How did you feel as you walked down the aisle?

Ecstatic, it’s an indescribable feeling and was something that we didn’t think was going to happen due to COVID, so it was very special.

Q: Funniest moment of the day?

My Grandad actually fell asleep during the speeches! In the Orchard Marquee they have special lounge seating in the foyer area, and my Grandad went and had a seat and fell asleep and missed all the speeches. He gave me away on the day, so I think it was all overwhelming for him.

These images speak for themselves. An incredible, emotional yet magical day at an inimitable northern venue made possible by a cohort of quality creatives. Bravo!
