A New Chapter
Another night out meeting – this seems a running theme with our Real Weddings at the mo… perhaps there was a pre-pandemic happy hour?! – Charlotte and Lenny locked eyes, and the rest was history.
The smitten pair got engaged on Christmas Day when they say down to open presents with a glass of fizz in hand.
Little did Charlotte know that her final gift was going to be the beginning of the rest of her life – Lenny had thoughtfully crafted a scrapbook with all of their favourite images, writing on the last page ‘will you marry me?’
Cue the tears and subsequent bottles of fizz.
Many brides have postponed their weddings due to the pandemic, but for this daring duo that was never an option.
“We were not going to let Covid postpone our love for each other. We are both so close to our families so having an intimate wedding with our nearest was perfect.”
But understandably they took the rough with the smooth – as planning during a pandemic, as we all know, is tempestuous.
From working around restrictions to fortnightly announcements that could have potentially prevented their big day from happening, it was a rollercoaster of emotions.
But the support from their families and the incredibly cooperative suppliers meant they got the dream day they’d always wished for.
An avid Pinterest boarder and lover of the outdoors, Charlotte knew she wanted a relaxed, natural feel to her big day décor.
Botanical hints of green and sage were carried through the stationery to the flowers, telling an unyielding story of romance and natural beauty.
Sprig and Thistle provided bouquets plush with white orchids and roses to compliment the various types of ferns and greenery. A nature-lover’s paradise.
A French Floral Fantasy
There was no stage more fitting for their botanical bonanza than Le Petit Chateau in Otterburn, Northumberland.
“I had always loved the look of Le Petit Chateau and even more that it had a French country manor feel, with its natural beauty behind the closed doors.
It was perfect for the theme I had in mind as I always wanted to be surrounded by nature and the beautiful decor was totally me!” – Charlotte
Charlotte and Lenny were able to personalise their wedding package – helping add some much-needed flexibility when the ever-changing rules threw a spanner in the works – and had all of their guests stay in the boutique rooms to prolong the celebrations.
“What we most liked about Sean’s work was his ability to capture emotions in such a raw and natural way alongside the perfect narrative of our day.” – Charlotte
Finally, would Charlotte recommend a lockdown wedding to others?
“100% yes, I am so pleased we did. I think planning a wedding can be very stressful and for many, you can forget the true meaning of marriage especially. Keeping it intimate, simple and celebrating, your love for one another is the most important part.”
