Rhian and Anthony met on a dating website and after they got talking, it occurred to them that ironically their mums had both been teachers in the same school. From this their love story progressed and they moved in together four months after meeting and got engaged just before their one-year anniversary. When you know, you just know.

The couple were lucky to have the first exclusive use of the hall for their wedding, as Brockley Hall only opened a month before the couple were engaged and they found the venue by chance while they were on their way to view another potential venue. When they entered Brockley Hall they fell in love and knew they had to have their special day there.

The pair had a certain vision for what they wanted their spectacular wedding day to be like…

“We wanted a really relaxed fun day. I most looked forward to having all of our friends and family in the same place at the same time. I knew that I wanted to incorporate lots of colour and I didn’t want anything to feel stuffy or boring. We decided to use vintage rail posters to name our tables and we used either local places or places that had some significance to our families.  Because I’m a primary school teacher I wanted old school hymns that everyone would know the words to. I walked down the aisle to somewhere over the rainbow played on the organ and had a Recording of Pembroke & District Male Voice Choir (which my grampy used to sing in) play when we signed the register. The music was important to me when planning the wedding. We had organised lots of outdoor activities but of course it was the wettest August ever so none of it happened but it really didn’t make a difference to us and the weather was never something I was stressed about, I’d bought floral wellies and umbrellas just in case!”

What was your highlight of the day?

“The highlight of my day was finally seeing everything come together. When the flowers arrived it really hit me that it was actually my wedding day. I loved walking down the aisle and seeing all of our family and friends smiling back at me. When I saw Anth for the first time it felt really special. I find it really tricky to name just one moment because the entire day was perfect and exactly what we wanted. Everyone kept telling us to make sure we spent time together on the day and I felt we really achieved that and made such wonderful memories.”

How did you choose your photographer?

“I met David at a wedding fair and loved his photos. I really wanted documentary style photography to capture our day. David was lovely and very chatty and made me feel totally at ease, which I felt was important because we were sharing such an important day with him.”
