REAL WEDDING

VIP puppy appearances, tearful moments and a misplaced bum pinch…

Danielle (Dee) from Bristol and Niall from Newcastle, crossed paths as if by fate while both travelling in Thailand. In their six days together they jumped off canyons, bathed and fed elephants, explored Chiang Mai on mopeds and partied into the early hours – forming a bond that would inevitably see them become boyfriend and girlfriend in Sydney airport. After more travelling, the daring duo decided to stay put and spent two years living and working in Australia together, before returning home for a beautiful proposal at Sycamore Gap – the infamous ‘dipped’ tree next to Hadrian’s Wall.

This lust for life, love and laughs is what underpinned their intimate celebration at Woodhill. Cutting their guest list down from 110 to 30 due to regulations, Dee and Niall enjoyed a day she dubs “more special than we could ever have imagined”, with white washed aesthetics, pops of navy and gold, woodland walks and a hell of a party.

Q: How would you describe your experience of your wedding during lockdown?

MAGICAL. EVERYTHING ABOUT THE WEEKEND WE HAD AT WOODHILL WAS MAGICAL.

DEE, THE BRIDE

"There is always so much love and laughter at a wedding anyway, but this just felt so different, so much emotion was flying around, our jaws were aching from smiling and laughing so much. I look back now, and I have never felt so much happiness and love."

Olive You

Opting for Woodhill’s incredible new ceremony room, The Olive House, this little labour of love owner Corrinne constructed during lockdown provided Dee and Niall with a sensational Santorini-style stage for their special moment.

I INSTANTLY CRIED WHEN I WALKED INTO THE ROOM, PEOPLE EVEN SAID AT THE WEDDING IT WAS LIKE WALKING INTO HEAVEN!

DEE, THE BRIDE

Accommodating their every need, the Woodhill team made a lasting impression on Dee: “Woodhill hall is like no other, the personal approach that they give to their guests is second to none and they want to make everything perfect about your day. The food, wow, the food was insane.”

Isn’t She Lovely

Sporting a sultry Enzoani number from Bath-based boutique Krystle Brides, Dee was the picture of bridal perfection with a loose low bun and stunningly subtle makeup finishing her look.

DRESS DETAILS:

Laramie, Blue by Enzoani. A full length crepe mermaid gown with illusion V-back and luscious lace embroidery. The definition of understated glamour.

Steady on!

When asked what the funniest moment from their day was, Dee struggled to hold her laugh back… When lined up for the post-wed bridesmaids and groomsmen picture, Niall reached his arm around Dee and pinched what he thought was groomsman Paul’s bum. Turns out, it was Dee’s sister’s. Cue hysterics and rouge cheeks (in more ways than one!)

But the groom more than made up for it, and he and the whole party revelled in a sun-soaked afternoon of frivolities, enjoying canapés in the Mediterranean courtyard, a stunning post-wedding photoshoot (featuring their puppy!) before partying late into the evening. Add to that the promise of an Amalfi coast honeymoon sipping Aperol and eating pasta, and he’s certainly back in Dee’s good books.

Q: Would you recommend a lockdown wedding to other brides considering it?

Honestly? In the lead up, part of me still couldn’t come to terms with the fact that members of our family and close friends couldn’t make it. This all changed as soon as I stepped foot in Woodhill the day before the wedding. During parts of the day I stopped and looked around me. It was so intimate and magical I couldn’t of pictured the day in any other way. Every single one of the guests that attended our day made it more special than we could ever have imagined.

WE GOT TO APPRECIATE OUR NEAREST AND DEAREST AND MORE IMPORTANTLY, EACH OTHER.
