A serendipitously cancelled train for Darryl one Tuesday night, led him to a bar in Central London where he and Lisa Met. Five years later, the couple realised that they never wanted to be apart and Darryl had gotten down on one knee. Although the couple lived in London, it was really important to both of them that they were married close to home, in a venue which showcased the stunning North Yorkshire landscape.
Superb Service and Memorable Mealtimes
Already having a reputation of being a luxurious venue set against a beautiful backdrop in Bolton Abbey, not only was Devonshire Arms the dream location, but it was spacious enough to accommodate all of the couple’s friends and family, from London, for the occasion.
“The service and the food at the hotel and on our wedding day was to an exceptional standard, one of the best meals I’ve ever had and to think they were able to do this for over 170 people.” – Lisa
Not only was the service standout, but all of the guests were blown away by the delicious dishes presented to the party at every mealtime, with the bride herself believing the wedding breakfast to be the best meal she’s ever eaten; an additional bonus was everybody having an option on the day of what they would prefer to eat.
Finding THE dress to say ‘I do’ in didn’t come easily to Lisa. Although, after visiting a few bridal shops throughout Yorkshire and Kent, she tried on some gorgeous gowns, she struggled to find one that leapt out at her.
“I had a couple of close encounters of thinking ‘I like this dress, but do I like it enough to buy it?!’’ – Lisa
She had all but given up hope of finding her dream dress when she visited The Harrogate Wedding Lounge. A keen-eyed boutique assistant produced a gown that had just arrived in-store and for Lisa it was love at first sight.
The subtle hint of blush in the underskirt and glisten from the delicate embellishments as she walked made Lisa all but refuse to take the Enzoani gown off again.
Throughout the day there were a lot of times which the couple will never forget, but one of the bride’s favourites was when her grandmother had everybody in fits of laughter during her father’s speech.
“We laughed so much throughout that day but I think the one thing that made everyone chuckle was my Nanna’s constant and unscripted contributions to my dad’s speech… by the end she had everyone in fits of laughter.” – Lisa
Even though Lisa’s Nanna is no longer with Lisa, those cherished moments will always hold a special place in the couple’s hearts which will never be forgotten.
The entire celebrations from beginning to end not only ran smoothly, thanks to the pair’s friends, family and staff at Devonshire Arms hotel; but the entire event overflowed with memories which will last a lifetime.
