Claire and Ross hosted a rustic-inspired wedding day in the captivating setting of Doxford Barn. Laid-back and in love, this couple incorporated personal touches throughout the décor so every little thing was meaningful.

“We just wanted everyone to enjoy the day because we went to school together and all our school friends would be in the same room and both are families are incredibly close, so we knew it would be a great day! There was so much love in the room!”

“As soon as we walked in Doxford Barns we instantly fell in love with the venue because it was totally us. We love being outdoors and spend a lot of time walking and cycling in the countryside. It was perfect, everything we had been looking for. After a conversation with Jess the wedding coordinator we knew Doxford Barns was the place for us, she was so easy going and we felt a connection with her and the venue instantly. We would 100% recommend the venue to future brides. The staff at Doxford could not do enough on the day to ensure our wedding day was perfect. The food was amazing, all of our guests commented on how delicious it was! All of our guests also commented on how beautiful the venue was. The cottages onsite are great as well.”

How did you choose your photographer?
“My brother had Jamie for his wedding and we thought he was great. Ross said to me on the day, ‘When we get married that’s the photographer we are going to have.’ He was just so friendly and easy-going during the wedding. He put all the guests at ease and made the experience fun. We were so pleased when he was available to do our wedding because his style was exactly what we wanted. We love how his photographs are so natural and he captures parts of the day you wouldn’t think off. All of our guests commented on how great he was.”

Advice for other brides and grooms when it comes to wedding planning?
“Enjoy the experience! You want to look back on the whole experience with great memories, that includes the build up to the wedding as well as the day itself. Choose a venue that suits you as a couple and add your own personal touches into the day itself as it makes it more special.

“Don’t worry about all of the little things; you won’t remember those on the day
All that matters is that you are marrying the love of your life so take it all in! You might not get around everyone on the day but don’t worry or feel guilty about it because everyone understands!”

What was your highlight of the day?
“The ceremony. The moment I walked into the Threshing Hall and saw Ross I will never forget. We couldn’t take our eyes off each other as I walked down the aisle. Ross and I wrote our own personal promises and made our own playlist for the ceremony, which made the ceremony so special.

“Our first dance, the song is really special to us. The song was ‘Sky full of stars’ by Coldplay and we used the acoustic version for the beginning of our dance and then the radio edit version that we all know to welcome our family and friends to the dancefloor which set the tone as all of our guests joined in the dance. Everyone had a smile on their face.

“Ross and my dad had been working on something for the wedding for months and I didn’t have a clue what it was. It was a song that my dad and I danced too. The song was my Grandad signing on the karaoke but Ross had enhanced the quality of the song. My grandad is no longer with us so it was really special. I will never forget it.”
