Doxford Barn: A Dazzling Day For Lauren And John
Here, at Belle Bridal, we consider ourselves as realists. We know that not every single detail will go to plan on your big day, but it is these inconvenient moments that make for treasured memories and laughter for years to come.
Lauren and John’s wedding at Doxford Barns was no exception, and the result of this was a strikingly beautiful day enjoyed by all on the 28th October 2017.

“The zip on my sisters dress broke on the morning. This made the last part of the morning preparation absolutely frantic and one of the wedding coordinators, Jess, literally had to sew my sister into her dress and she almost walked down the aisle with the needle and thread still dangling from the back of it. In the midst of all the commotion we forgot that our flower girl had taken herself off for a nap and wasn’t dressed at all.... she walked down the aisle very dazed and confused.”
“Then, mid wedding vows, John totally zoned out and had to be reminded of what he needed to say and what we were doing, which caused an uproar with the guests and both of us too. It also made for some great photos and stayed included in our wedding video too, which we love as we feel it captured the mood and our day perfectly. We laughed from start to finish.”
Autumnal tones, dazzling bridesmaid dresses and ambient lighting set the utmost romantic scene at Doxford Barns for Lauren and John’s all-important day.
“One of my bridesmaids sent me the link to Doxford Barns. I was instantly intrigued and we organised to go with my parents to view it at their next open day. My Mam became quite emotional when we viewed the Threshing Hall and it was lovely to have had my Dad see a venue where John and myself would potentially marry, as we knew in our hearts that he might not actually see the day. He passed away just under a year before we got married.”
“I would definitely recommend the venue to other brides. I feel like it is only getting better and better and they are constantly striving to improve and adding new and beautiful features. We must give a special mention to Jess, our coordinator, who was on hand via email at all times to answer any questions or queries and who really calmed my nerves about all of the minute details.”
How did you choose your photographer?
“It took a lot of research to find a photographer we felt we would be happy and comfortable with. We both agreed that we didn’t want our photos to look too staged or posed and felt that we needed to feel relaxed around them too. Sarah-Jane and Simon are a young and down to earth couple who are so easy to chat to and knew what we wanted. Their style suited us down to the ground.”
What was your highlight of the day?
“Honestly, the highlight for me was stepping into the Threshing Hall and seeing John at the end of the aisle and all of our guests smiling. After feeling so nervous all morning and struggling to contain my emotions, a calm came over me as soon as I saw him. So the best and most meaningful part of the day was literally the marriage ceremony.”
“Oh, and the sparkler arch on the night was pretty amazing too!”
