Easterbrook Hall: Stephanie And James McGeary's Rustic Garden Party Wedding

DATE

Stephanie and James McGeary married on Saturday 19th of August 2017, their perfect, unforgettable moment was captured by Amy Lou Photography. They tied the knot in the beautiful archaic Crichton Church and carried on the celebrations at Easterbrook Hall, Dumfries.

The couple first met when the groom, James ran his own bar in Edinburgh, a bar that Steph used to frequently attend and was friends with one of the bar staff, who subsequently set the pair up on a date. It was at this point their love story unfolded.

Their overall plan for the wedding was for it to be extremely fun and relaxed. The inspiration for the wedding was to evoke a rustic, garden party theme surrounded by all of their family and friends.

The main attraction to the venue was certainly the church and the stunning grounds surrounding it. A bonus was the church and venue were both in close proximity. Stephanie explained that when James’ mum entered the church she burst into tears because of how beautiful it is.

Are there any funny stories from the wedding?

“There are so many too choose from… during the ceremony we were singing a hymn. One of the hymns (that James was in charge of) had a whole verse missing from the order of service so the entire church was silent during that part. Also at night when James and I were dancing away, he threw his arms in the air and his wedding ring flew off, luckily his friend found it in the dark room full of dancing people. I am well known for rapping on karaoke to Eminem. At the beginning of the evening my girlfriends got up and performed a rap that they wrote about James and me to the tune of ‘The Real Slim Shady’…’or the real Mrs McGeary’. One last thing that sticks in our heads is all of James' friends singing a football chant to the words of ‘Freed from Desire’ by Gala.”

How did you choose your photographer?

“From the beginning I really wanted a specific style of photography, it was something that I felt really strongly about, I had looked at Amy’s photography and loved her use of light and her candid approach.  I have known Amy for years and she couldn’t have been more helpful… the pictures speak for themselves.”

What was your highlight of the day?

“How do you pick… there are too many. I think for me the moment I walked into the church, I was arm in arm with my dad and walked through all our amazing family and friends and could see James waiting for me at the bottom of the aisle. That moment blew me away. For me, James it was the same moment but at the other end, watching Steph walk towards me.”
