REAL WEDDING

Read the Romance...

One Friday night in January 2015, Mark (a videographer) was slinging cocktails in Leeds' coolest bar 'Smokestack'. The Motown was pumping, drinks were flowing and Emily was third wheeling a friends tinder date.

Emily's friend was determined to find her a fella. A few daiquiris later, numbers were exchanged and the rest is history! The question was popped on a sketchy coastal path in Cornwall when Mark stopped to get suncream out but pulled out a ring instead.

Fast forward to one Friday morning in July 2021, and a global pandemic later, and this laidback pair of adventure-lovers were tying the knot with a dreamy, botanical bohemian bash at The Bridge Hotel.

Although the pandemic threatened to scupper their plans, this lucky duo only had to postpone their day once – far cry from the near double figures we’ve seen from some couples – and the sun shone on their outdoor ethereal setup for a day to remember.

The venue? Well, what could be more fitting for a pair of outdoorsy romantics? The Bridge Hotel in Wetherby provided the perfect stage for their summer sun-lit soiree, with tranquil spacious gardens and a traditional vibe that just begged to be festi-fied.

And that they did.

WE ARE BOTH BIG LOVERS OF NATURE AND BEING OUTDOORS SO WE HAD A MINI BELL TENT, TONNES OF GARDEN GAMES AND LIVE MUSIC OUTSIDE. IT WAS LIKE A MINI FESTIVAL!

GET THE LUXE:

Emily looked the picture of elegance in her beautiful lace fitted gown by Watters from Guest List supplier Leigh Hetherington Bridalwear. Add to this a fresh flower crown and a veil, and you’ve got boho bridal magic.

All angles covered...

Enlisting Yorkshire wedding photographer Sam Chipman to be the trusted talent behind the lens, Emily and Mark's images tell a story of their own. Covering every single angle, from the details and the dancing to the all important dogs, Sam came out in flying colours – "he was the perfect guy to document our day." – a real coup if you're photographing the wedding of a videographer!

FIRST DANCE NOTES:

Arctic Monkeys – Baby I’m Yours

Their musician Michael Mulholland covered it and they had a swoon-worthy first dance outside as the sun was setting.

Q: Funniest Memory From The Day?

The best men speeches by Joe and Ed were very entertaining! I received a medal for being the 'most patient wife'. Another was trying to hide Mark from me whilst getting my hair and makeup done.

OUR WINDOW WAS DIRECTLY NEXT TO THE AISLE! LUCKILY THE BRIDESMAIDS WERE ON HAND TO TELL HIM TO CLEAR OFF!

Q: Presuming you’ll have a honeymoon once travel restrictions are lifted, where will you go?

We have had a 'mini moon' in Wales already which was incredibly beautiful and a great adventure! We hope to head further afield in the next year or so somewhere a bit more exotic! We are considering South America.

BRIDE TO BRIDE:

Firstly it would be to shop around first before committing to your suppliers. If you are on a budget, consider second hand decorations or making your own.
