Captured by Sally T Photo, Sophie and Will tied the knot in the beautiful setting of Newton Hall.
Nestled on the Northumberland coastline, friends and family gathered at the luxury hotel to celebrate the couple’s love for cycling, traveling, and most importantly, their love for one another.
“We wanted our wedding to be a celebration of the years we had been together, as well as a fun party for all our friends and family. It was important to us that the day reflected us as a couple. Our theme centered around our love of cycling and travel,” said Sophie.
“We wanted a classic and relaxed look in terms of attire and decoration. We took inspiration for the colour scheme from Newton Hall itself with its beautiful blue walls, which we carried through to the bridesmaid dresses and groomsmen suits. Will really wanted a top hat too!”
“We used Will’s love of statistics to create a ‘Story of Us’ and ‘Story of You [the guests]’ to celebrate the distance travelled and diversity of our guests.”
“The tandem bicycle ended up being a big highlight of our day. Sophie was so happy she managed to ride on it in her wedding dress and most of our guests got involved too!” Added Will.
“Having a civil ceremony at Newton Hall gave us so much freedom to make our ceremony personal. We managed to get a good balance of love and humor with our readings. Will’s granddad stole the hearts of all our guests with a very emotional speech, blaming his tears on hayfever, which had everyone laughing,” said Sophie.
“We wanted a relaxed and natural style for our photographs and after searching photographers who had photographed at Newton Hall before, Sally was perfect.”
Although the couple lives in London, Sophie is originally from the North East. Since both the bride and groom love the stunning Northumberland setting they knew Newton Hall was the perfect venue for them.
“As soon as we saw Newton Hall we knew it was exactly where we wanted to get married. It was quirky and beautiful. We loved the location in the countryside and the beautiful sandy coastline just a stone’s throw away.”
Advice for other brides and grooms?
“Relax and take it all in – everything runs itself on the day so enjoy it. We would highly recommend creating a wedding website and creating lots of excel lists!”
