Charlie and Josh met through their love of music and their romance blossomed after attending Leeds Festival with friends. “Our friend groups seemed to merge around the time of Leeds Festival where we first properly met. After many more local gigs across the UK, it all spanned from there!”

Charlie and Josh tied the knot on August 25th 2018 at the beautiful setting of Healey Barn surrounded by their friends and family. “Healey Barn was one of the first venues we discovered and visited, and we fell in love with it. As this was a new experience for us, we went to visit a few others, however, we seemed to always compare them back to Healey. We would totally recommend Healey Barn. It’s got so much character, however, it’s still a blank canvas so you can make it your own. It’s lovely how many breakout areas there are, the food was exceptional and master of ceremonies made the day run so smoothly.”

“We booked up pretty much just under three years before the wedding due to just buying a house and wanting to save to ensure that we were able to have the wedding that we wanted. This also meant that we had plenty of time to plan! Our main priority was that as the venue was an hour or so away from home, and that there was plenty of accommodation near by for those who wanted to stay as well as transportation. Another priority was ensuring that all our family and friends were there to enjoy our special day.”

“With our main interests being music, food and gin - these were the key themes that we wanted across the day! We wanted each of our family and friends to enjoy these themes and relate to a memory that we have had together over the last 10 years - whether that was at a music, gin or food festival!”

How did you find your wedding dress shopping experience

“I was dreading it at first if I’m honest. There’s so much to choose from out there and when you start to look it was hard to picture what would suit me. When I went to The Wedding Dress Company, I actually went there with a dress I saw advertised. With trying this on and not “getting the vibe” I felt like I didn't know where to start. They were amazing and selected seven dresses that they thought would suit my frame and based on listening to my likes and dislikes. I ended up with a dress I absolutely loved and that I felt so comfortable in - and probably a one I wouldn’t have thought to look at in the first place!”

How did you choose your photographer?

“It was at the Wedding Wonder Show. Many of my friends had recommended photographers, so we had an idea in mind however our main priority was that they weren’t too staged and all natural. Sean Elliott was lovely and invited us to his studio to get to know us and our personalities over a cuppa.”

Advice for other brides and grooms?

“Make sure that on the day, you both take yourself away from your own wedding and look into all your family and friends enjoying themselves. We made sure that right after the ceremony we had five minutes together and then our photographer took us away to the woods for half an hour in the evening, which was such a lovely moment to give us the chance to talk about what we’ve enjoyed most about the day so far (and if we would encounter anymore peacocks!)”

What was your highlight of the day?

“Unfortunately due to a permanent illness, we thought that my dad (father of the bride) might of not been able to make the wedding. The venue, family, friends and carers of the hospice all made sure that happened and accommodated. It was such a special moment to have the father of the bride and Josh at the bottom of the aisle waiting for me to walk down. Not just for me, but for all the family.”
