Hexham Winter Gardens: Kirsty And Steven's Personalised Celebration
We love it when our brides put unique and personal touches on their wedding day and today’s wedding demonstrates just that. Kirsty and Steven transformed the blank canvas venue that is Hexham Winter Gardens into an industrial chic setting where friends and family gathered to watch these childhood sweethearts tie the knot.
“We both went to the same secondary school, but did not get together until we were 18 and met up at the local night club. We have been together ever since.”

Bringing their personalities to life in this venue, Kirsty and Steven incorporated the perfect finishing touches to create their ultra personal day. Infusions of copper softened with natural greenery and white flowers helped to create the backdrop the couple had envisaged.

“We knew we wanted a blank canvas as we had so many different elements and styles we wanted to incorporate and it gave us the freedom to do everything we wanted. The Hexham Winter Garden is just that. It’s basically a glasshouse giving us the light and view of amazing greenery with the amazing Victorian-style pillar giving it that ‘industrial chic’ feel.”

“I highly recommended the venue as you really can transform it into any style, but it is a lot of work and takes a lot of vision and faith in yourself and your vendors. A on the day coordinator/wedding planner is also a must!”

“The venue was empty so we had to hire everything; all tables, chairs, table covers, plates, cutlery (copper coloured which I was far too excited about) and glasses from Crosby Hire.”

How did you choose your dress?
“I knew exactly what I wanted from day one: a classical bridal satin dress with a structured modern twist. I had previously visited Leigh Hetherington Bridal where the assistance had told me that Leigh could design and create a dress of your choice.

“I met with Leigh and she totally got my vision of the dress, even down to the tiniest detail of pockets, buttons and number of panels on the corset. At my first appointment she has sketched and designed ‘the dress’. As time went one I asked for a detachable bardot style top so that the ceremony look was different to the reception/night time look, and I loved the classical and timeless element to the overall look. I loved my dress; it had every tiny detail I wanted, and it fit perfectly. It was the most amazing experience that I will treasure forever, and I cannot thank and recommend Leigh and her team enough.”

What was your highlight of the day?
“Our first dance. It was like no one else was in the room and then all the guests joined in as the song kicked in. It was magical.”

Advice for other brides and grooms?
“Go with your vision. If you want something different go for it! It is worth the effort… And Brides, always spend the night before at the venue or very close by in case of being late (time flies by on the morning!)”
