Langley Castle: Roses Are Red And A Special Day For Two
Friends and family gathered in the beautiful setting of Langley Castle to celebrate Andrew and Kevin’s special day. “We decided we just wanted a stripped back, original wedding and a good celebration with our closest friends and family. We chose roses as our theme, as we have both lost our mothers and the rose was a meaningful flower to them both.”

“We also didn’t want classical music playing while our guests were waiting for us in the ceremony room, so we played gay iconic music - Kylie, Spice Girls, Mika, Pet Shop Boys, The Weather Girls, Queen, Lady Gaga and Madonna. Everyone thought when Vogue came on that was what we were coming down the aisle to!”

“Langley Castle wasn’t actually on our list as a potential venue to get married, but after attending a wedding event at Gosforth Race Course and entering and winning a competition for a free nights stay at the castle we ended up planning our wedding while we were there as it was just perfect. The price, however, was a shock to the system and while driving home, after our competition free night stay, we discussed ways of saving, potential dates in the future to give us enough time to save and then all of a sudden my phone rang so I pulled over in Hayden Bridge and answered the call. It was the tenant who I rented a property out to and their contract was coming to an end, she said ‘we love the house and want to buy it off you’… I obviously agreed as it was just at a perfect time. Fate? Some might say it was – we certainly do.”

How did you choose your photographer?
“Nicola was recommended by my best man after she had taken pictures of his wife and children prior to the birth of their third child.”

Advice for other brides and grooms when it comes to wedding planning?
“Don’t leave things until the last minute and don’t expect people to know how to tie a bow tie and end up watching Youtube videos 30 minutes before your ceremony.”

What was your highlight of the day?
“Our adopted boy coming to the front and wanting a cuddle as we were getting married.”
“While holding our little boy in his arms, Andrew was repeating the words to me from the registrar which were 'everything I have I give to you' and at this exact moment our little boy reached away from Andrew and wanted to come to me. It was perfect timing.”
