After dating on and off for around 18 months, Lucy decided to travel the world and her relationship with Oliver was put on hold. Around eight years later the couple reconnected before Oliver flew to Australia to meet up with Lucy and as the saying goes, the rest was history!

The luxurious Bagden Hall provided a breathtaking backdrop for their dream wedding day.

The Dream Location:

From their first visit, this hidden gem was everything the couple had ever dreamt of and more. Bagden Hall Hotel not only promised 40 acres of stunning grounds, overlooking the Yorkshire Dales, but the unique, Victorian Folly, alongside the Hall’s dedicated staff, provided the ideal setting for the most important day of Lucy and Oliver’s lives.

Lucy – “Bagden Hall is stunning but the grounds completely sold it to us. We visited six local venues but nothing compared to Bagden, plus, with all of our guests, we wanted somewhere with enough room for people to stay. Along with the venue, the staff were fantastic and we couldn’t fault them.”

This Victorian country house hotel was fitted with ivory blossom trees, rich golden décor and twinkling fairy lights that overlooked the ceremony.

The Unexpected Dress:

“I tried on around twelve dresses and was beginning to lose hope as the dress I had in my head was not what I went for in the end.

We then visited a sample sale at Lovebird Bridal Boutique in Ilkley and after five more dresses they then brought out the Charlie Brear dress – a very simple gown but with something missing… I added a bolero and voila, just like that, I’d found my dress! We took it away that day and had a local seamstress do the alterations.” – Lucy

Lucy walked the white aisle in a stunning but subtle Charlie Brear gown. The lace overlay added a glamorous touch, while the understated skirt oozed class and sophistication.

The Bride’s Advice:

“If you can, increase your budget – you’re only going to do this once! We definitely spent more than we planned but I would spend it again as it was worth every penny.

Take time throughout the day to just be with your husband/wife and take it all in, it’s over so quickly!

One thing we would suggest is book a videographer (or atleast get someone to record the speeches), we didn’t and we really wish we had.”
