Matfen Hall: It Was Woof At First Sight For Frank And Perdie
It’s true, love really does come in all shapes and sizes, and man's best friend is certainly no exception. When Frank met Perdie there was no denying it was love at first sight. Fast-forward to 13th June 2017 and the two tied the knot in front of their closest friends, both those with two legs and four.

“We chose to have Frank and Perdie’s special day at Matfen Hall as it was a wedding venue that was welcoming of all.”

“As we had exclusive use of the East Wing we were able to enjoy the beautiful gardens and woodland area for walks and comfort breaks and the rooms within the East Wing without being interrupted by other guests. We were really lucky with the weather and were able to enjoy the gardens throughout the afternoon. Our favourite room was the Great Hall where we held the ceremony, it had such a traditional yet magical feel to it.”

With blossoming bouquets bringing the outside in, it was no wonder these four legged friends felt at home in this enchanting venue. “We wanted a simple elegant look for the day as the venue is so pretty we didn’t want to clutter it.”

“Frank likes to wear a bow tie, so he had a new Harris Tweed collar for the occasion; Perdie enjoyed wearing a flower collar from Floral Quarter.”

But it wasn’t just new garments these pooches were treated to…
“We served dog beer with Bonio treats throughout the drinks reception, and as a relaxed dining experience was key, all guests enjoyed hotdogs in the Dutch Gardens. We concluded the celebrations with cake served with Pawsecco."

Do you have any funny stories from the day?
“The funniest part of the day was during the photographs of the Bride & Groom with their dog friendly cake. One of our guests, Rocco got a little excited and thought that the cake was for him, he didn’t leave much for any of the other guests after what was left was wrestled from him!”
What was the highlight of the day?
“The sun shining through the stained glass window just as Frank & Perdie were confirming their vows and a lovely stream of colour washed across all of the guests. It felt quite magical.”

Do you have any advice for any other owners who want to have a dog wedding?
“Find a venue that will make you and all of your guests feel welcome and are willing to adapt a traditional wedding day to suit you and your needs. It also helps that the team seemed to have fun in planning it with us. A laugh and some encouragement certainly go a long way."
