Kayleigh and James were both shy college students just aged 16 when they realised they were meant for each other. After being too scared to talk to one another they finally plucked up the courage and fate lead them to the same university, and then on to become husband and wife at the forever sparkling Matfen Hall Hotel, in Northumberland.

“We wanted an intimate ceremony with a handful of close family at our day. We wanted a traditional church feel but all in one place, which is why, we chose the stunning Matfen Hall, with its cathedral-like hall room and stained glass window. We got our traditional feel, with that modern twist of the vault disco downstairs.”

“We went to visit Matfen after seeing its Instagram page. Upon first sight we booked our wedding and didn’t even bother looking anywhere else as it captured our traditional vision. We wanted a totally relaxed atmosphere and we got exactly that! It ran smoothly and perfect, we loved every moment, as did our guests!”

How did you choose your photographer?

“We met Ross and his wife at the Stadium of Light for the Belle Bridal Wedding Fair. Instantly upon meeting them I knew I felt so comfortable. They had a fantastic display on and the photos are all so natural just how we imagined. Not only were the photos beautiful, but also the price range was totally realistic!”

Would you recommend the venue to future brides?

“Most certainly! It has so many places for photographs and accommodates everyone’s tastes; the staff were so helpful and took away any stress and concern. I would 100% recommend Matfen Hall to anyone!”

Do you have any advice for other couples?

“Savour each moment and don’t sweat the small stuff. It goes by so quickly you don’t even notice the small details you stressed over so much. Enjoy every moment and remember to have a moment to yourselves!”

What was your highlight?

“The Groomsmen planned to do the YMCA in full costume as a surprise for me at the evening disco. However it was my first dreaded toilet trip in my dress, so the bridal party helped to get my dress back into position in such a rush! We escaped the toilets and the song started to play. To my amusement my husband, and his merry men were all dancing in sync with the headgear on providing an epic routine for us to laugh at and love forever.”
