Captured by Bride and Groom Photography, Samantha and David celebrated their special day in the stunning setting of Ramside Hall Hotel. For this couple it was all about becoming a family and spending the day with their nearest and dearest.
“We originally planned to marry in the summer of 2017, but changed the date to February 2017 to accommodate a growing baby bump. We didn’t have a particular theme – to us, the wedding was about us being joined together forever and spending a lovely day with the people we love the most, and that’s exactly what we did! While I put a lot of effort into all of the above – outfits, venue styling etc – we didn’t get carried away as the actual ceremony at the church to join us as man and wife was the most important part of the day to us.”
“I really enjoyed looking through magazines, such as Belle Bridal and I got a few ideas from Pinterest and Instagram for wedding hair, nails etc. I also started following wedding suppliers I’d met at wedding fairs on Facebook.”
“We found our photographer online after being really impressed with his work on recent weddings at Lumley Castle and Beamish Hall. He came to meet us at home with some of his albums and we decided to book him immediately.”
“As for the venue, we wanted somewhere that was local for our guests and we considered costs too – the prices at the Ramside seemed fairly reasonable.
When we went to visit their rooms, many of which had been recently renovated, and were impressed with their food options etc.
We’d visited Lumley Castle and considered Beamish Hall too, but Ramside Hall felt like a hotel/holiday complex and has lots more to offer to guests, including gorgeous accommodation and a new spa.”
“I always wanted to buy my wedding dress from a local shop and had often driven past I Do, in Bill Quay, and dreamt of trying on some of their beautiful gowns.
The staff in I Do are lovely and helpful, and the Enzoani gown I chose felt like “the one” as soon as the back was buttoned up. Choosing a veil to match really finished off the dress – for me, a veil is essential for a bride! I added the lace back-to-front bolero just days before the wedding! Because we’d changed from a summer wedding to a winter one, I wasn’t keen to have too much skin on show and the staff in I Do helped me to choose the bolero, which matched my gown perfectly.”
Advice for future brides and grooms-to-be…
“Remember what the day is all about – marrying the love of your life! In my opinion, becoming a bridezilla and stressing unnecessarily over table plans, favours and whether the guests drink cava or champagne is exactly that – unnecessary!”
The couple’s highlight of the BIG day…
“For us, the highlight of the day was putting on our rings and being officially married by the priest. Lots of our guests would probably say that the fireworks were the highlight – we kept them as a surprise for our guests and they really were stunning!”
