“It was the most exciting moment of my life”
Planning your dream wedding day is extremely stressful at any time, but for Rebecca and John, even a world pandemic wasn’t going to stop them…
Saying their vows and devoting their lives to each other was the only thing on this couple’s agenda, even if it meant their reception celebrations would take place in the back garden of their family home.
“If doable, having your reception at your family home is pretty special, as if it didn’t have enough memories from growing up, to then have your wedding reception there, it was a moment we’ll never forget.” – Rebecca
Originally planning a winter wedding in December for later this year, Rebecca and John quickly realised that their idea of a ‘normal’ wedding unfortunately wouldn’t go ahead as planned – but after months went by and restrictions lifted, they were finally able to go ahead with organising the biggest day of their lives.
Finding the perfect setting to tie the knot, the bride and groom-to-be opted for the private Northumberland retreat, St Elizabeth’s Church at Minstreacres, where they were surrounded by dramatic stain glass windows and an impressive drive of Redwood Trees, adding the wow factor to their lockdown love affair.
Luckily for this laidback couple, their nuptial was everything they could have imagined and more…
After saying ‘I Do’, Rebecca, John and their close friends and family spilled into Rebecca’s parents’ house, where they were greeted by balloons and bunting which decorated the garden alongside an afternoon tea wedding breakfast and an Indian takeaway to end the night (where was our invite?!)
“It was totally perfect. Intimate family celebrations, highlighting the meaning behind why you actually do get married. I personally now would hugely recommend anyone to have a small gathering – less stressful and personal, just the way it should be!” – Rebecca
The Dress of Dreams:
Immediately drawn to Guest List Supplier and multi-award-winning studio, Y.A.P Bridal, the bride fell head over heels for this stunning, sleek fitted gown, encapsulating her vision perfectly.
Combining a beautiful satin fabric, with a low-cut neckline, Rebecca looked a vision as she stepped out in Savin London, a luxury British label, perfect for this fashion-forward bride.
“I had modelled plenty of wedding dresses in the past, so I thought it would be a huge challenge for me to find my dream dress.
I’d been to Edinburgh and had a trip planned to London, however as soon as I stepped foot in Y.A.P Bridal, it couldn’t have felt more right. The designer of my dress happened to be there when I had my appointment, so it felt even more special.”
Would you recommend a lockdown wedding to other brides considering it?
“YES YES YES! Without a doubt the best thing that we ever decided to do!”
Labour of Love:
With the sun shining and their loved ones near, nothing was going to dampen Rebecca and John’s special day, as they began the new chapter of their lives together.
