Ripley Castle: Amy and Mike’s extravagant and glamorous wedding celebration

DATE

“Without sounding cliché, it was the best day of our lives.”

Situated in the heart of North Yorkshire, this 14thcentury country house, Ripley Castle, is known for its timeless elegance and historic charm.

Amy and Mike always dreamt of having a glamorous and classic feel to their wedding day therefore it was no surprise that they fell head over heels for Ripley Castle.

Amy and Mike met at work and after some classic Christmas party flirting their relationship soon blossomed.

THE VENUE:

Amy said: “Ripley was always ‘the one’ for me. I would highly recommend Ripley Castle; there is a real family-feel with the wedding planning team, who were amazing. I must point out how good the food was – people are still talking about the food at our wedding, nine months on!”

The ceremony room consisted of high ceilings, wooden beams and stained glass windows , hence the added classic touch Amy and Mike loved.

Creating a more glamorous feel, small fairy lights were wrapped around the wooden beams above, while white blossom trees, scattered ivory leaves and sheer tiebacks decorated the wedding reception.

THE DRESS:

Amy was slightly nervous about the dress shopping experience, as she felt like she didn’t suit floor length dresses.

Amy said: “We went to Harrogate Wedding Lounge who were fantastic and really understood the style I liked from my research. I was shocked to find ‘the one’ on the first day of dress shopping. I went with my mum and sister – we had the best girls day!”

The bride stepped out in a stunning sleeveless Sottero and Midgley dress. The delicate flower embellishments, floor length veil and low cut back, above all oozed elegance and glamour.

THE BRIDE’S ADVICE:

“Take some time out together to enjoy all the moments of the day. Remember it’s your day; you can invite who you want.

Not everything has to be expensive as a result I saved money on my bridesmaid dresses, which were just £50.

Amy and Mike’s wedding was filled with fun due to having a day surrounded by family and laughter. Amy reflected: “From my dad seeing me in my dress to having time together as a couple, there was so much love in the room.

Having everyone in one room, that you love, is a very special feeling.

I’d love to do it all over again!”
