REAL WEDDINGS
Ripley Castle: Tom and Adam’s Fun, Family Orientated, Gin Themed Wedding
Renowned for its ‘quintessential essence of Yorkshire romance’, this enchanting country house Ripley Castle, situated in the heart of North Yorkshire, exceeded all of Tom and Adam’s expectations.

The couple met around eight years ago at the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts, where Adam was training to be an actor and Tom was training in technical theatre.
Shortly after, their relationship turned to long distance, when Adam moved to London. Tom then moved in with him, after graduating one year later. “The rest was history!”

“We knew from the get-go that we wanted our wedding to be gin themed.” Tom and Adam collected empty gin bottles from their family and friends to decorate their venue. A perfect excuse to enjoy a G&T!
“We asked our florist to use gin botanicals and herbs where possible, which even went as far as being part of each of our buttonholes,” Adam said.

Their gin theme carried on throughout the day, with the collected bottles used as table names, table plans and also as aisle decorations.
THE PHOTOGRAPHER:
The couple wanted a relaxed, documentary-style photographer to capture their special day. Tom and Adam chose Stott and Atkinson Photography who managed to capture some really beautiful unexpected moments.

“We felt like they understood us entirely and we felt so comfortable around them.”
THE VENUE:
Adam said, “We viewed a mixture of venues, from hotels, barns and manor houses but there was nothing that had the wow factor we wanted.
When we viewed Ripley Castle, we fell in love straight away. The setting, the food and the friendly staff, really made it a special place.”

The historic charm of this enchanting hidden gem, promised the couple picture perfect views and a unique and special day they would never forget.

The beautifully decorated rooms oozed history and character. The grand staircase and stained glass windows added a traditional touch, while the wooden beams wrapped in fairy lights gave a sense of a rustic elegance.

THE OUTFITS:
Tom and Adam’s three-piece suits were custom designed by the couple themselves. The suits were made in their favourite colours; Adam dressed in burgundy and Tom in Blue. The colours of the suits were complemented by the bursts of burgundy and blue in the flower arrangements.

The couple said: “Enjoy the process and the build up, the day flies by in an instant. Make sure to take five minutes every now and again to have time to yourselves as a couple.
We wanted a day surrounded by our closest family and friends. It couldn’t have been more special and perfect for us!

We look back on it with such great memories.”
