Rudding Park is one of our favourite Yorkshire wedding venues here at Belle Bridal. It’s a setting that’s modern, luxurious and offers couples a stunning space to celebrate their nuptials. Today’s real wedding shows exactly how couples can style up this venue, as Katie and Paul held a white hot celebration with friends and family on 22nd June 2018.
Their wedding planning journey began as soon as they arrived back from Paris. “Paul whisked me off to Paris for my birthday to propose. He hired out the only horse and carriage in Paris one afternoon and then later that day he proposed back at our hotel with the most amazing wedding ring he had designed himself! That evening he took me up the Eiffel tower for a meal… it was perfect!”
Katie and Paul wanted a timeless day that would never go out of style, which is the reasoning between the stunning white theme. “We wanted a day we would never forget and a day that our guests would never forget too! As much as a wedding day is about you as a couple we really wanted our guests to feel special and enjoy the day as much as we did. When it came to our décor we really wanted a timeless feel to our day and decided to have everything in white! We wanted to keep our guests entertained throughout the day so music was a big part of our wedding day. Every decision we made was based around ‘what will we think of this in 10 years time?’ Looking back on the pictures and videos so far we know we made the right decisions!”
As soon as the couple saw Rudding Park they knew this was the setting they wanted for their wedding. “I saw Rudding Park in OK magazine many years ago without realising where it was. It was a photo shoot for someone in Emmerdale and I looked up the location as it was so beautiful. From then I knew if I ever got married I wanted it to be here. We visited four venues in total and nowhere compared to Rudding Park and how it made us feel each time we visited. I would recommend Rudding Park to any future brides and grooms. The service from our wedding coordinator, Sarah Coles was amazing and she was always on hand no matter what day or time. The duty manager, Will on the day was never far away… he even fetched my lipstick! We really wanted a venue that was grand and special, but didn’t feel too formal and like we couldn’t relax. Everytime we visit Rudding Park we instantly feel at home. We also love our food so this was a really important part of our day. We did the food tasting prior to the wedding and it was the best wedding food we’ve ever had! For anyone that has been to Rudding Park before I’m sure will agree… there really is something so special about Rudding Park that you can’t quite put your finger on!”
How did you choose your photographer?
“We wanted someone who could really capture the story of our day and all those little moments that make a wedding day really special. We didn’t want too many staged photos and when we saw James and Merika’s work we knew they were the ones. We had a pre-wedding shoot in the Peak District and we knew we had made the right decision. So, many of our guests commented on what a great couple they were… they ended up more like guests!”
Advice for other brides and grooms?
“Take time out together! We kept taking 10 minutes out together to take the day in and it really helped the day not to fly by without us seeing each other. Most of all do what makes you happy because it’s your day and you want to look back at the amazing memories and not think if only!”
What was your highlight of the day?
“The speeches! Myself, my father in law and two best men did speeches and I’ve never seen so many tears and laughter in the same room. They were all prepared so well and we had so many lovely comments saying how great they were and how rare it is to go to a wedding where all the speeches have been so great,” said Paul.
“The moment I saw Paul at the end of the aisle… I knew nothing else mattered,” said Katie.
“We loved the whole feel of the day, it was so relaxed and to see so many of our friends and family talking, laughing and having fun together was amazing!
This was such a hard question! I can honestly say our wedding day was everything we could have wished for and more!”
