Seaham Hall: From New York City To The North East

DATE

Liam and Jeni's wedding journey started in the BIG apple. Although they travelled to New York City to celebrate Liam's 30th birthday, little did Jeni know that he was planning a celebration of his own. "We were in New York on the 14th February 2017, we were visiting to celebrate Liam’s 30th birthday on the 15th. We had just arrived and wanted to go for a meal, Liam tried to convince me to go to Central Park because little did I know of his plans I wanted to go somewhere closer, I didn’t even notice at the time Liam was looking for the perfect spot to propose and didn’t find it, he proposed as soon as we got back to our room, which was lovely because it was just us two."

"We had a New York theme to tie in where we got engaged. Tables and seating plan reflected the NY theme. I loved the idea of using mirrors with lots of flowers and candles. I wanted people to enter the room and be hit by an amazing scent, lucky for me Liam’s brother and partner own a candle making company called Fellowstead and provided us with some beautiful smelling candles. All the bridesmaids and the mother of the bride wore dove grey, which complimented the grey ties of the groomsmen. I wanted my flowers to add subtle colours of lilacs and pinks, they were absolutely beautiful."

"We chose to hold our ceremony in the main ball room at Seaham Hall because we had family and friends attending from all over the country and thought it would be nice for everyone to be gathered at one venue then relax and enjoy the day rather than moving from place to place."

"My dress is by Halfpenny London, I had already purchased a dress but found myself drawn to this brand, so on a trip to London I visited their boutique and was in love. Luckily there was a stockist in Jesmond closer to home, my dress was all plain satin with the detailing in the way the fabric was twisted at the top, I had satin buttons at the back added for details and a beautiful belt by Catherine Dean."

What were the standout moments for you both?
"For me it was walking down the aisle, by that point I was incredibly nervous and the staff did a great job of keeping me calm, it was just so lovely to see our friends and families faces as I walked down. Exchanging vows was definitely the biggest stand out moment for both of us."

Would you recommend Seaham Hall as a wedding venue?
"We would highly recommend Seaham Hall as a venue, our guests commented on that they loved the flow from the bar to the ballroom so that you always felt part of the party no matter which part you were in. It is such a beautiful venue to marry in, and your needs are very well catered for."
