The Maven’s Magical Soft Summer Soirée at Middleton Lodge

Middleton Lodge’s private two acre walled garden and wedding venue, The Fig House, was the enviable location for this real wedding.

Having met via the dating website Plenty of Fish back in April 2013, travel-loving teacher Hannah and off shore-worker Ryan ironically began their love story with a date at Blue Reef Aquarium.

Amazing Arrivals

Following that fateful (and fishy) day where Hannah thought ‘this is it’, Ryan solidified their love three years later with a Love Actually moment at Newcastle airport, meeting Hannah on her return from travelling South East Asia with a bouquet of flowers and a very important question.

She said yes – but rushed and rather surprised, Hannah demanded he propose again in the airport’s carpark just so she could ‘take it in’. A perfect double proposal that unsurprisingly resulted in a ring on her finger and a beaming smile on her face.

Gown Gallivanting

Like most brides, Hannah couldn’t wait to start the preparations, and first on her list was finding the perfect dress.

Being a self-confessed perfectionist, she and her mum travelled all over the country visiting countless boutiques and trying on over 150 dresses in her hunt for ‘the one’, but to no avail.

But just when hope was fading, her mum asked her to try on one last gown – the complete opposite of what she had wanted – and her mind was made up.

A beautiful Swarovski beaded Sottero and Midgley number with intricate detailing and the most gorgeous full tulle horsehair train we may have ever seen, this gown encapsulated Hannah’s natural beauty.

“I knew immediately that was the dress I wanted to marry Ryan in. It was me, but in the most beautiful way.”

Fabulous Fig House

When it came to choosing a venue, Hannah & Ryan’s hearts were immediately taken by The Fig House at Middleton Lodge.

A brand new two-acre, private walled garden with Provençal-esque architecture and incredibly intimate interiors (think light-drenched spaces with original oak beams and exposed brickwork), this rustic wonderland was the perfect venue for their luxe fairytale affair.

So much so, that the pair actually booked before building work was even complete.

On the day, the delicate nature of The Fig House’s serene summertime setting was displayed in its full force.

Soft sunlight, hushed, blush neutral hues, a sparkling champagne reception, games on the lawn and a harpist to play Hannah down the aisle, it was the epitome of intimate romance.

BELLE LOVES:

A three-course formal wedding breakfast, where guests chose their own dishes, followed by sensational street food platters was the marriage menu of dreams. Oh, and the menus weren’t that bad either. Big up our savvy Guest List stationer, Victoria’s Paperie!

Most Memorable Moment

Late in the evening, Hannah & Ryan wandered to the end of the garden to have a moment to themselves.

They stood cuddling as husband and wife, looking across the gardens at everyone they loved all together in the most beautiful setting.

It was the dream day that they’d created together, and this was a standout moment for Hannah in a day full of unforgettable love & laughter.

Advice from the Bride

“Do everything together and enjoy every moment. It will be over before you know it, so take every opportunity to make beautiful memories which will last a lifetime.”

Amen to that!
