Hannah and James hosted a wedding that celebrated everything they loved with the people who mean the most to them. This couple wanted a day that reflected them and the love they have for one another. Captured by Photography by Rachel, this special day is filled with love, laughter and luxe DIY touches…
Hannah explained that “our plan for the day was to spend it with all our loved ones and have the best day ever.” Friends and family gathered in the beautiful setting of Willington Hall to eat, drink and dance the night away.
“We have two children and a lot of young children in the close family, so we needed somewhere they could also enjoy the day and be safe. Willington Hall was the only venue that we visited that called our children by their names and made us feel like it was our day and not just a number to them,” added Hannah.
“Every one of our guests commented on how friendly the staff were, how beautiful the food was and how beautifully amazing the venue was. We also filled their rooms for the night and everybody had a great room and had an amazing family breakfast in the morning.”
The couple had a clear vision of what they wanted the venue to look like, so Hannah did the majority of it herself. “We decided our theme was all about ourselves. Everything in the décor through to the invites reflected our personality and interests. Our invites looked like football tickets, all our décor was handmade; all wooden with snippets of Harry Potter and Disney thrown in.”
How did you choose your photographer?
“We looked at a LOT of photographers, but eventually found Rachel online. We had heard some horror stories about photographers only caring about getting the shot and we aren’t at all photogenic so we wanted to feel comfortable. Rachel seemed very relaxed and understood how we wanted our photos to be very natural and to capture the day as it happened. She listened to every word and every photo was perfect!
What was your highlight of the day?
“The car ride from the church to the venue. It was 20 minutes of alone time with a only a bottle of champagne between us and time to take a breath.”
